If you are the only student then I will allow a change in topic of study. Otherwise yes, you understand correctly.
Don't worry Ignes.Festivus, thanks for the help.
Aurthor will attempt this one the next year!
By the Parma rules, I think, you can only extend your protection over them as long as you can see them.
Advanced to the end of the year, switched Artes/Latin to Philosophae.
Hmm, you are correct. For 1131 he wouldn't always be in sight of Erberto and Neleos, but for 1132, he would always be covered (reading his book in the Teaching Lab alongside Blossom's lessons). But, by golly if I don't remember something relevant from way back when Gloriana was Camilla, let me delve into these Character Development pages
Hi leo!
Since you are using the Mirror in your lab, it should activate as a Me vis source (for silveroak to note), and it gives your lab the Haunted flaw (+1 Warping, -1 Aesthetics, +2 Me). Interesting times with both experimenting and possible Warping of the effects (Andros has had some less than stellar results with a Warping score of just 1!
)
I missed the haunted flaw!
Simple dice for the spells invented in summer: _: 1D10 = [4] = 4 > warping score of 1.
Seems this year there aren't consequences for Aurthor, will see in the future...
Hi raccoonmask, in Spring 1132, Sybilla carves a wax figurine for Mercurio, this will last for two seasons (Summer and Fall), and this gives him affinity with Magic Theory. She digs the little fellow in many ways!
Anna and Honor's child is getting close to hitting age five! They went with the name Bravery. Did anyone want to play the little guy? If not I'll devise the character. On that note some questions: He's undergone the intelligence boosting ritual twice, and he has some specific virtues from Fertility Magic.
First question: Should those virtues be "balanced"? The book recommends it, but that's only a recommendation.
Second Question: What about the stat boosting? Should his points just be assigned like normal then Int increased by two?
from the wiki:Characters created by a fertility ritual will be under the control of the creating magus unless
- the character is being designed as an apprentice for the creating mage
- the creating mage does not wish to control them
The GM will assign 3 minor flaws and virtues to the character before it reaches age 5. If the magus chooses the parents this may influence the selection of these traits, as for breeding animals, but given the magical influence this is not guaranteed.
These characters are not intrinsically Grogs or companions, but rules for advancement and development will generally follow companion rather than grog rules.
I select: small frame, motion sickness, uncertain faith for flaws and apt student, second sight (divine), gentle gift for virtues. The virtues gained from other sources (fertility ritual enhancement rituals) do not need to be balanced. As per apprentices virtues which grant ability points are not available to characters of this age.

Ah, youth! Sadly Mercurio does not have the magical skills to thank her in kind, but he will be sure to get her some beautiful flowers, and he'll begin studying more.
silveroak, how does Neleos's (currently inherited) virtue of Flawless Magic affect Andros's ability to teach additional hermetic virtues and flaws to his apprentice?
each minor hermetic virtue adds 3 to the target number to learn a hermetic virtue through teaching, each major one adds 9. This will not impact learning until the inherited virtue manifests, but this must happen before age 14. House virtues are not learned in a season of instruction and are thus unaffected.

So an inherited virtue (not manifested yet) will not impact teaching new virtues, but will after it manifests. It won't retroactively complicate things when it appears in a year or two? (I was saving it for either an adventure Andros brings Neleos on, or 14, whichever comes first).
no, it does not complicate things when it manifests, unless it does so midseason while you are teaching a new virtue...
Alright, original research rolls for Evandrus! Racing towards his twilight.
Spring: Stress(6)-3=3, no extraordinary benefits.
Summer: Stress(2)+1=3, no extraordinary benefits
Fall: Stress(0), A
Aw crap, I had a brain fart. Stress zero is a potential botch, not an explosion.
I'm gonna use the next few rolls I got, although the notes are all messed up. With a risk of +3, and an aura of 6 and safety of five he rolls five botch dice!
Botch Check Dice: Botch Check(5)
Botch Check Dice: Stress(0) <-- One botch!
Botch Check Dice: Stress(7)*2
Two botch check dice Stress(5,7) Note: you start with one botch dice in the pool!
Botch Check Dice: Stress(9), so a single botch.
Well, just one botch! Let's see how Evandrus fairs.
Simple Die(9)+3=12, roll twice more!
Simple Die(5)+3, Simple Die(9)+3, CALAMITY! The covenant is threatened AND Evandrus needs to roll twice more for disaster!
Simple Die(7)+3=10, Simple Die(2)+3=510,5 So Evandrus takes 55+ one simple die of damage. He also gains one warping point.
Damage=55+Simple Die(6)=61. Let's check here... that's 61 damage. So Evandrus takes death.
Alright then, Evandrus rolls a disaster, which causes a calamity that threatens the covenant, gives him a warping point and kills him dead very nearly thrice over. It probably also destroys any books he hadn't sent to the library.
... Whooops.
If there is one thing I could do differently, it would have been being more proactive about moving lab texts to the library.
Well, that sucks to the 100th magnitude. I am not familiar with lab disasters so hope others can check your math for some sort of mitigating factor.
As E. is into Corpus stuff/LR research, this might not be an explosion, but perhaps some sort of aging/disease of unusual speed/virulence, Perdo to his Creo.
Which season is that? We clearly need to add a story...
Fall! The disaster happens in fall.

I was a bit surprised at how much damage explosions did actually myself! I think the moral of the story is you want Safety>Risk+Aura when running experiments.

And high Perception! This was on Gloriana's to-do in a few years, alas.
Hold on, why were you adding the aura for botch dice? Unless I missed something for labs that only applies to unfamiliar auras, which does not include the aura in your lab...
