Christmas in Barcelona (Winter 1234)

I will need a volunteer to go speak with Frenchy then. That should be fun
As for casting your divinations, the trail leads to the east side by the docks. Just past it, as if someone dumped his body into the water.

You might want to follow up on that line of questioning at some point in the future

...No word on a body yet, and I have not heard any further information. I suppose there is nothing else. Just passing information along. If you learn more, I hope you remember to return the favor.
And one small favor for now. Just call me Gus.

We'll see. Pere genuinely doesn't care that Trentus got himself killed. For now he's just heading to the Silver Rooster to see what he's been missing. And by that, I mean the two lovely magae that Teodor mentioned...

Good call. If I had to track down the name 'Katsulius' one more time I was going to dub him G'Kar.

Kostandinos Katsulius was born in Barcelona, but is the child of Greek immigrants. Kostandinos, or Constantine, begets the nickname Kosta or Gus. Katsulius is a surname, and comes from my grandmothers family tree.
I suppose the magi at the Silver Rooster are preparing to go look for a body? Let us say you meet with them before they leave.

((I take it that's us? I don't think we ever figured out what treasure map we were talking about, whether the ghost knew where the real one was or if he had a fake one or what. And Solomon said something about casting Tracing the Trail of Death's Stench, which I can't find...although judging by the TFL and page ref on his character sheet, I'm guessing it's what he calls The Inexorable Search?

Sorry, I just got confused with the scene cut and the vague 2nd person talk without knowing which group, or both, or neither, was being addressed.))

Eras Pavo has no further helpful information about this map.
Sorry for the confusion, just trying to merge plotlines

(Tracing the Trail of Death's Stench is in the writeup for The Inexorable Search...it's basically the same spell for dead bodies)

This is what Solomon recommends they do next.

Our non-gifted Magi and Gentle Gifted magi (if we have any) head to the Pearl Peacock to talk to/interrogate Frenchy to see what he knows. He was seen drinking and being chummy with the guys the map was taken from, so he might have some clues about the map and where it came from. This might also be a good time bring Pere in so he can join with this group.

The rest of us head to the docks and try to extricate the body from the water; perhaps with a modified Wizard's Leap to teleport Erus' body from the water. Solomon can then cast Sight of the Molting Magus to see if his killer left any trace elements on Erus (hair, nails, blood, etc).

Vibria, I think, would be on Dock Detail. Except she's not much good at fishing bodies out of water. In December.

So, she looks around while the others do their thing, keeping an eye out on anyone or anything showing an interest in what they're doing. (I take it we're not armed and armored.)

If they need any light, she can make some for them. But other than that, she's well nigh useless. Can't even spont Doublet of Impenetrable Silk on her clothes.

Sounds good. Mark, let me know which of the locals are escorting the Andorra magi and I'll bring Pere in as they're headed for the door.

I will sort it out after I get home from work latter

Farusca intercedes "We thank you all, but this is an internal matter for our covenant and..."
Then Odo buts in "Get off your high horse Farusca! The Andorran magi have ever been our friends and allies and offer their help. You put me in charge, now let me do my job!
I propose we split into three groups. Farusca can take a few of you to the Pearl Peacock, she is a regular patron there and knows Frenchy quite well. I can take a few of you to the docks. Bring your shield grogs and I'll have Matteu round up a few local tough guys. The docks are dangerous, especially for ladies. And it will have to be after dark so no one spots us hauling a body out of the water. For the third, I suggest Carmen takes a group over to the Gold Gryphon. See if her mother knows anything.

So, who wants to be in which group? I need to know what characters I am still working with.

Solomon will be going to the docks.

[color=red]"The Gold Gryphon? That's inside, right? With fireplaces and warmth and not going into the freezing cold water? And the fortune-teller?"

Vibria has a very strong preference for the Gold Gryphon. Since they want Gentle Gift or un-Gifted people for the Pearl Peacock, her second choice will sigh be the dock detail.

Yeah. You and me. Let's go meet my mom
We have to dress you up pretty and fix your hair first. I brought a couple of dresses with me and I'll let you borrow one.

Vibria looks at Carmen's chest, then down at her own. [color=red]"Do you think it'll...never mind. And what's wrong with my hair?"

As the plan is discussed, a portly (and slightly winded) man walks in the door. My goodness...this certainly looks interesting. Good evening, sodales. He bows. I am Pere Vilaro Ferrer of Jerbiton. I heard we had guests and wanted to welcome you to our fair city. Though I'm sure Odo has done so...adequately. He smiles and looks around the room, paying special attention to Carmen, Vibria, and Vibria's chest. I...also...have...news. He looks away from Vibria with obvious effort. Our brother Eras is not the only magus to have died in recent days. Three others have died violently in this area, two of them to apparent foul play.

Pere spots a woman, a visiting maga from Andorra, who is almost the spitting image of Golda Simone at the Gold Gryphon. Indeed, she looks like she could be Golda's older sister.
This would be Carmen. You have heard of her. I am not laying traps, just warning you that Carmen will probably not like being told she looks older than her mother (Carmen looks like she is in her late 20's, Golda looks forever 21). And, if you have ever "knocked boots" with Golda (which is distinctly possible), it is probably wise not to mention that either.

Vibria glares at Pere Vilaro when she notices him staring at her chest. [color=red]"Pervert," she mutters under her breath in Catalan.

[color=red]"Who?"

Carmen looks at your chest with an envious eye, but then shakes her head and smiles. I can dress you in something to cover them or show them off. Whatever you want. This is the Gold Gryphon, salacious attire and alternative lifestyles are the norm. And there is nothing wrong with your hair. We just need to style it. Mine too. I am thinking you would look fabulous with a pile of curls. I was thinking of straightening my hair or doing it up in a bun. Maybe a ponytail? We will wear head coverings on the street of course, but inside the club there will be no worry.

It seems obvious that something sinister is afoot in Barcelona, and on the behalf of the magi of Andorra I do pledge our assistance in the resolution of this matter!

Pere glances at Vibria('s chest) then speaks to the room. The first was Vicenc of Jerbiton, bludgeoned to death in his home three nights ago. He was wearing some kind of necklace or amulet that was forcibly removed, but otherwise nothing was disturbed. I know Vicenc by name, but very little of him other than that.

The second, two nights ago, was Trentus of Flambeau, apparently killed with a knife to the ribs. I am familiar with Trentus. He has a list of enemies longer than my... he gives Vibria a meaningful glance...arm. Viewed singly, his murder isn't exactly a surprise. With the rest...

The third is more of an outright rumor than the others. Apparently some mundanes saw two 'witches' hurling fire and lightning at each other in an empty valley near the city. One of them was killed. Normally I would dismiss such a tale, but it is supposed to have happened yesterday, which fits the timing of the others too closely.

Now I hear that Eras has been killed as well? Were you successful in contacting his spirit?
