Another thought regarding the rotation of disceptator. Since the Charter was signed in 1179 (after Tribunal), technically Aedituus would be 4 years into his term and Petronius would take over in late 1186.
This change has been performed - but how do I remove the Feeding the Font of the Covenant from the library?
Or add the level 30 Ritual Communion?
- From the library page, open the corresponding "book" (named "Titus Aurelius Lab Texts").
- Edit that page
- At the bottom of the page, you'll have a bunch of SetHasSpell lines. Change the one with Feeding the Font of the Covenant.
When you go back to the library, the changes may not show up right away. It may take a while before they do, but you can force them to show right away by editing and saving the library page without changin anything.
Excellent, thank you.
Hmmm... I checked the numbers, and I don't think Titus would be able to learn a level 30 Ritual Communion, because of his Short-Ranged Magic flaw. His Lab Totals are also halved when designing (learning) spell that has range greater than Touch. He'd be barely able to learn the level 20 (Lab Total of 41 before division, when including Durenmar's aura of 7).
We could get around that with:
- A House Rule (it's an old Mercurian ritual)
- A different interpretation of the range for this spell so a Touch variant is possible. Saying that the range is to all participating magi instead of being to the spell being cast can make sense, since Wizard's Communion is T:Group. Just makes for a funny scene as all the magi must keep touching throughout the casting of the Aegis.
Or just touch once. I don't see a reason to keep touching, because Ritual Communion is a formulaic spell and is cast and done.
The person conducting the actual ritual configures their Ritual communion to receive the incoming power from the other assembled magi. It can be delivered a multitude of ways. And even if the range is dropped to Touch, it still delivers the same amount of power as a Voice range spell, so just the -2 magnitudes for duration, without a corresponding jump for the drop in Range. Hand wave acceptable?
I don't have a problem with it. Let's simply say that the spell is poorly integrated and that, even though a Touch version was developped, it does not provide any benefit.
I'll make an entry of that spell variant on the wiki, so that this can be the version that Titus knows as well as the lab text present in the library. That way, everything will be coherent and someone learning from that lab text will have the same limits.
Is the name "The Touch of Ritual Communion" work for everyone?
Agreed, this (finally!) struck me as went to bed last night.
Excellent.
Someone (Arthur I think? Not sure?) did the numbers on the covenant economy.
I just ran the whole thing through metacreator, and couldn't replicate your numbers - could you drop me a a line so we can figure out who forgot what?
(I was looking to see if we could afford lab with a positive Upkeep - my calculations say we can, easily enough, but I'd prefer to double check)
Look to the wiki...
laurus-argenti.referata.com/wiki ... i/finances
I haven't plugged anything into MetaCreator from the wiki myself, yet. I've been meaning to...but well...
I don't have a good excuse.
By the way, I have no problem changing Aedituus' Wizards Communion spell to Ritual Communion, if that would be more useful. My intent was to boost spells like the Aegis, but in my offline saga, we have effectively house ruled that WC works for rituals, so I was not thinking about the other version.
That's where I got the numbers I plugged into metacreator in the first place.
I can't really fault you - I only got around to it because I wanted to see if I could get away with a more expensive lab, and it seemed easier than going into the other room to get my copy of Covenants to get an estimate of how expensive it would be
I sent Tellus a PM regarding the details of the calculations. The discrepencies may just be a matter of rounding at various steps in the process.
Regarding whether we could afford labs with positive Upkeep, by my calculations we could each have personal labs with +3 Upkeep, with the shared lab at +5 Upkeep. That would bring us at the edge of our current income, and leave us limited in the amount of one-time expenditures we could absorb.
Personally, I'd advise everyone to try their personal lab's Upkeep at +2 or below, at least until we can increase our income. There are plenty of improvements that don't increase Upkeep, although they do take time to install.
Seconded.
I agree...
Praxiteles will not like it...but...
Then he can start working on getting us more funds
That was what the but... stood for.
He will probably be trying to crank out artwork/sculpture for cash. And when I say crank, I mean make pieces for a discerning client, as much as possible...
The finances have been updated again. Removed the rounding up of decimals at each step, to only do it at the end. Also changed the costing for grog officers to use that of specialists, based on the examples in Covenants.
I've uploaded a new version of the spreadsheet. The covenant now generates 31 pounds of extra cash per year, enough to support some small growth of the population, as well as some improvements.
Excellent - I'll stop worrying then.
Regarding the second floor of the house: Is it primarily stone or wood? I am imagining stone outer walls, with wooden inner walls and floors. Also, are the windows on the second floor glassed and shutterable?
