I personal think its either everyone have to spend 1x 2 season to set up a lab or no one have to spend this 2 season. Realistic only a real unaging like a transformed human could handle the lab setup for us all.

I agree. We should all spend the same number of seasons setting up a lab (whether that's 0 or 2, I don't have a strong feeling, but it should be the same).

I disagree, however, that only an unaging grog could set up a lab for all of us. Yes, I get it that some of the magi are old and that a grog we have now wouldn't have been alive when we set up our labs. But it wasn't as if we had no grogs back then. There would have been a grog in a comparable position who could have done the job.

For example, Zacharias will have a non-Gifted lab assistant at game start - just a grog who helps him out in the lab (giving him the Servant virtue for his lab). I haven't made that servant up, but he's not likely to be super old, and wouldn't have been around when Zacharias' lab was set up. Then again, he's certainly not the first lab assistant that Zacharias has had. Before him was another who's either dead or retired from the job. I'm probably not going to make up that lab assistant in game terms, but he probably has vaguely similar abilities to the current lab assistant (certainly in the area of helping in the lab), meaning that [i]he[/] could have set up the lab. So, if we're allowing grogs to set up labs, then it could easily have been a previous grog who set up the labs.

Its' not as if we had no grogs and suddenly we have them, We had grogs all along who performed various tasks for us. We're just using our current grog force as an example for what we might have had.

Two observations:

1.) While a mundane lab assistant can set up the lab, I think that they're still stuck with it taking two seasons to set up athe lab and then it taking one season to add a minor feature and two seasons to add a major feature. At least that's what I assumed. We might, as a troupe, decide otherwise. But under that interpretation, it would take seven seasons to set up the lab and get in two major virtues and a minor virtue. Not a huge deal, but there it is.

2.) You'll have to pick two from Items, Texts, and Vis Extraction, since you can only have two activity specializations functioning at any one time, per Covenants p. 112. Again, not a huge deal, since I'm sure one of the +1s can go pretty easily.

We did agree that the magus don't need to setup the lab pre refinement no matter the size because a NPC spend the time for us. But this NPC still need 2 season to set it up + 1 season per minor virtue and +2 season per major virtue installed if it is important.

He'll take items and texts, vis extraction isn't exactly something he worries about...
