Definitive Crowdfunding Questions

Michelle, when the Backerkit page says the core rules are "unlocked" does that mean the license on them is live, or just that it will go live at a future date?

If it's "unlocked" we regard it as live, even if we haven't put it up at Atlas Games | Ars Magica Open License yet!

Just to be sure

Is the early manuscript to be received at the end of the week also under the live license or will it be only at the end of the campaign or only when the pdf is available?

We are planning a big update of the Foundry VTT system once license is live.
There is a lot data entry to do, but so far only early backers will be allowed to contribute.
Did I get that wrong?
When will the rest of the community be able to participate in the effort?
Will there be a final manuscript at the end of the campaign?

Thank you for the great job, it's Christmas before Christmas here :grinning:

I believe the text of Definitive Edition is more or less fixed, with the layout and art still under way. So presumably all the text in the draft would fall under the license?

Agreed, but what would be the point of backing early then, if the text can be shared because of the license?
Hence my confusion

Fair point - I assume the situation wrt open licensing will be made clear once it's sent out.

If you back early, we will be providing the manuscript directly to you.

Yes, we expect that people will share it in perhaps minutes under the Open License. So if you know someone who will pass it to you right away, or are sure you know where it will be, then you don't need to back at all!

But, honestly, the point of backing early is to be part of the hype and the fun of a campaign that is blowing away everyone's expectations, like a flour-dust-loaded grain mill hit by a Pilum of Fire.

(Anyone who wishes to cancel their pledge, get a copy of the DE manuscript from the wild distribution, just on principle, and then come back and re-pledge, is welcome to do so!)

Great news!
Personally I don't mind at all if non-backers get a copy early too.
Thanks for the clarification

Some of those non-backers might get right to work creating some awesome content and releasing it as CC-BY-SA!
