Have you calculated the grand totals?
as things stand;
Income 231
logging 175
fishing 28
farming 28
expenses (with savings):
buildings : 10 1/5
consumables : 14
labratories : 86
provisions : 4 3/5
wages : 16 2/5
weapons and armor : 2 3/4
writing materials : 6
total: 140
this assumes 20 laborers. Also note that values are calculated in excel, but presented in "mythic" valuation (aka single digit fractions instead of decimal)
right now you have resources buying a ships captain as well as a grog character as ships captain. As per Ars5 p.72, grogs which have been built as characters do not need to be purchased with build points- so do you intend to have 2 captains or have you waster resources buying free people? Same question for the teacher.
Also on economics armed specialists are turb, not specialists in terms of inhabitants points.
I'm not sure what you intend by the "grog" category in calculating inhabitants, but the term is used for so many different things as to be essentially worthless unless discussing the character creation method- otherwise please try to find a different category
I also do not use the pound of enumerous
Two captains was intentional, erring on the excessive side. I had two specialist captains in the draft before I made the grog. I think it just possible that we occasionally want to use two ships ...
OK. Turb is «other covenfolk» for finance purposes, right? Turb captain is specialist, no? How about the scout, specialist or «other»?
The scout is considered an archer in terms of support. Teachers are specialists.
You indicate 4 scribe specialists- these would be scribe, 2 teachers, and wise woman? Merchant?
each person has 2 different values- creation style (magus/companion/grog/specialist)- a person may be bought as a specialist and fit somewhere else in terms of economics, depending on what they actually do- as described a specialist (economic) is someone who provides a professional service to the covenant (not turb, laborer, servant, etc.) and who is not a craftsman whose crafts help to maintain the covenant...
I never completed the spreadsheet, in case their would be changes, so all numbers are generally approximate. I'll go over it.
I have cleaned up the list of covenfolk.
You had some calculation of arms and armour per turb member, but I cannot find it. Do you still have the numbers? I am not sure if the 72 and 28 in the sheet are something you put in, or if it were my numbers ...
Did you compile the calculations of cost savings?
I have compiled numbers based on my spreadsheets, which work slightly different than yours- to begin with I don't put cost savings on a percentage basis since the percentage basis is the upper limit per crafts type.
Currently I have all 4 swordsmen wearing chainmail with a longsword and shield (81 points each) with he 4 man archers wielding a longbow, dagger, and chainmail for the same point value, while the scout has a short bow at this point- armor would result in an increased encumbrance so I have not added it for the scout. the short bow is 8 points of weaponry.
Why 8pts for short bow? The table in [Cov] has 4pts for a standard weapon.
I recorded your assumptions for the specialists and added my own for HÄrek and Sturla, here: http://amfightorflight.wikidot.com/specialists
Are all cost savings from items included in the 20.7 recorded in the spread sheet? It would be nice to have the break down.
because I made a mistake on the short bow and assumed a standard doubling progression...
I will include the calculations on the sheet
what weapons or armor does Harek have? I don't see any on his sheet...
I am not sure if any of the specialists should save costs. The animal handler (some animals for purely domestic use) and the merchants (more efficient procurement) possibly?
Sturla. the scout, has a short bow (4pts), dagger (1pt), long spear (1pt), partial metal reinforced leather (8pt)
HÄrek axe (4pts), heater shield (4pts), full leather scale (16pts)
Your current specialists do not save costs. If you had made a specialist (build points) who was a craftsperson (economics) and had say carpentry:6 this would have saved the covenant 4 MP per year in building costs, while also increasing the covenant costs by the cost of sustaining the craftsperson (about 1.5 lbs increased costs). If you had 2 such carpenters it would save 4 1/2 lbs in building maintenance and 3 1/2 pounds in consumables...
a lapidary or goldsmith at the same level of ability would save 6 lbs in laboratory costs for the same requirements to support them.
How are we going to determine vis rights/distribution?
Harvest of 120p/year, that's 30p/magus
Are you going to spend any more than that any time soon?
To be fair, 5p is deducted for Aegis ...
I'd say that any expenditure up to 28p in any one year, you just use it. If you need more than that, we can discuss it.
Definitely won't need more than that, just wanted to confirm what we were going to do.
Do we need to feed vis to Heimdall for his Aegis-like effect? Makes sense if we do, just wondering.
In the autumn of 1202 Nix Corium Grimsdottir Ex Bjornaer petitions to join the covenant, having finished her gauntlet at Sinus Wotanis.
Illugi would vote for bringing this maga into the covenant. There is plenty of money and more of us can not hurt with the ever present threat of raids by Muspelli.
