Imo its probably easier to lean on Aristotle here, ie, an object can only effect things it possesses or is adorned with (refer A&A22-25) so you may effect a ring as a side effect because you possess it, while the reverse cannot be true. And a boat could effect you because it possesses you, but not the reverse. I think this somewhat rules out broomsticks, which is fine by me I think, and buckets are somewhat questionable(as long as you're in it and it's relatively large it's probably fine by me tbh). Anyway I don't think this helps a lot in terms of making the determination, just puts some parameters on it and provides an easier arguement

Doesn't the box in TME (p.107) answer most of OP's question? Look at the penultimate paragraph. I would first note that requisites are used if up to half the mass is something else. When you go beyond that, you're really looking at transporting the other thing with the little thing attached. One of the examples is a crate of eggs, which speaks fairly directly to packs and pouches.

Now, if we look at the OP's sandals, clearly the person is way over 50% of the mass. Non-living items would be ReTe base 25, v. the person at ReCo 35 for AC distance teleportation. So even if you ignore the 50% of mass bit, it doesn't matter, as the requisites still make this a ReCo effect. So the sandals need a ReCo effect, and presumably Touch as Personal won't do.

As any Verditius would tell you, that's why you need BIG sandals :slight_smile:
A foot long. Half-a-foot wide. With a four-inch sole. And made of solid gold!

One sandal with those measurements would weigh approximately 90kg. Or about as much as an adult male human.
Double that for a pair of sandals, so he can put one on each foot.

Of course, if their 90 kg each and made of gold, then there are a few issues:

  • The person's mass is still quite substantial in comparison, so there is a needed requisite.
  • With this much mass of gold, you'd need +1 size.
  • As the ReCo 35 base is still the higher one, this would still be ReCo.
  • But with that much mass Terram must be a requisite, and you should still need the +1 size.

This looks like it's just getting harder than the OP's sandals using ReCo at Touch.
