Whatever she is, she isn't a snake, nor a human. You didn't get much of a look, but she does have two scaly legs, the scales are thick like a crocodile's.
go ahead and roll damage 20 times, I'll work out the ablating armor of clay...
Wouldn't it create a layer of acid underneath the clay?
fundamentally, no. This is a complex question, because the acid is going to first of all wash away clay in the manner of any liquid, and secondly react with the clay- which gets complicated as there is a) how we know today that acid and clay interact (removing certain metals from the clay in chemical combination), b) how clay and acids were "known" to interact in the middle ages, which is to say very little- mainly staining or bleaching of pottery, and third the description of the spell, which indicates that it will work on everything aside from glass. As such even if acid did drip from the clay with some potency left it would act on the stone rather than accumulate.
I wouldn't want to be say swinging a sword nearby though...
It's hard to be certain exactly when she stops thrashing, but by the time the clay barrier falls away as the effect expires she has been skeletonized from the waist down and half of the skeleton has been eaten away by acid. Doornails dream of being this dead.
Everyone make a roll for disease from the stale air- make a stamina roll with a target number of 4.
Hugh waits patiently as the acid works on the body, not trying to urge the men to fight when they might get splattered with acid. A few seconds before the clay disappears, he suddenly goes back to normal size.
Hugh looks at the body as the clay disappears, and at the wand, and raises an eyebrow. "That's... a remarkably dangerous weapon." He doesn't seem to notice any ill effects from being cooped up.
The disease is major, with an interval of a week, stable ease factor 6, improvement ease factor 12, severity:12.
The fox watched her and was ready to put on her own spell but it seemed not to be necessary once she was basically hacked to bits, she coughed a few times, making almost adorable wheezing noises as she whipped her tail back and forth at the stale air, before having her body slowly change back into that of a human woman "...dangerous weapon, for a dangerous creature...we should gather something of it for study...see we did just fine together." She seemed not to be bothered at all being naked as a jay bird, nor did the air seem to trouble her (6 total, in the DR)
Hugh looks away from the fox politely, shuffling around the cave on his knees to see if he smells any magic. Then he notices Alva coughing and goes over to her. "You're the hero of this story! Are you ok? Do you need help getting out of the cave? We should be careful, those undead creatures may still be active." He looks up at the grogs. "Wait by the cave entrance, and I'll make you big again. But be on guard for those reanimated farmers."
she took her time to crawl out rather easily and would very appropriately reclothe her self taking her time and returning to the enterance, as she looked around to see if there were perhaps still the dead running around "Yes quite the hero you are, though yes get some sweet air, its quite good."
The dead are standing sentry, facing away from the cave, much as when you first encountered them. They do not seem to react to people coming out of the cave.
"They probably had orders to guard the cave. I bet if one of us tries to go back in they'll attack."
[I take it there was no magic inside the cave that Hugh could detect?]
only your own
"So...this is your wild adventure, that you have taken me on, do we take part of the corpse? Do we cut down these...things? Are we victorious and is it a good time to head home....because I think we are....and we will have peace in our time, for a while anyways." She said with a bright smile
"I think they aren't dangerous right now, but they will be if we try to attack them." Hugh turns to the grogs. "Are these local people that you recognize from the village?"
The grog speaks neither Norman nor Latin.
They don't speak Latin? That's odd.
noticing the lack of response she would ask the same thing in western norse for Hugh "Are these local people that you recognize from the village?"
"Oh yes, that there is Sven, his farm is on the Eastern edge of town, and he was the first to go missing."
Hugh addresses Nix, "Are you asking for me? Thank you. I think we should do whatever their families would want. To bury them or whatever. I could make holes to bury them right here if we wanted."
[Does Hugh have any idea whether reducing their might to 0 would make them un-animate?]
