Clement also has the History of the Order class
1st year. 2nd year, other teachers will be brought in.
Looks good so far. I like the fact that the classes are rotating in the time-slots, so Fiona has time for a quick wake-up romp in the mornings now.
Will the elective classes be sprinkled in during the day, or be after after the mandatory classes? And if the former, do the students not in whatever elective is scheduled that hour get a "study hall" or a free hour?
No, she doesn't. She's still teaching MT 1st period to first years...
Oh. Right. facepalm So, she's teaching 1st year MT at oh-god-where's-my-coffee and 2nd year MT at 8.30, then 1st year Flora et Fauna at 10.30, 2nd year F&F at 1.30. Got it.
Well, no. We will have some other teachers for the second year, so no teacher should be teaching more than 1 class for each year of students. Eventually, after the curriculum is built teachers will be teaching an average of 5 out of 6 classes per term and also doing extra curriculars.
The two classes was for just this year.
I pulled this one over here since I'm looking at the same type of thing for Julius.
Can the virtues being picked up only come from the teachers?
If so how would a student learn one not covered in the school? Is it only coming from inherited virtues?
if it takes 18 SQ to gain a minor virtue and 24 SQ to gain a major one ( I'm guessing at the SQ totals), that is a big chunk of exp coming out. Is there a bonus if the teacher has the virtue vs not having it?
Can they also gain a flaw from the teacher to offset some of the cost?
If one teacher has a virtue that the apprentice wants can they only spend exp from that teacher on the virtue?
Yes.

Yes, but if there's a virtue that you want, I'll bring in a teacher with the virtue for it to become available.

The base SQ is 15 for minor and 21 for Major. Each Hermetic Virtue you have manifest increases it 3 for each minor and 9 for each major hermetic virtue. Remember, the Hermetic Flaw you picked at opening counts as an Ordeal for these purposes, and reduces the SQ(see below).
Can they also gain a flaw from the teacher to offset some of the cost?
Yes, it's certainly possible. Pick a teacher's Flaw, any teacher's Flaw, and it's -3 to the SQ for each minor and -9 for each major.

Yes.
I might open this up towards the end of the apprenticeship, to include Extracurricular experience in this total, but for now I want to limit it to the classroom teaching time.
Sorry, meant to bring this up earlier. Fabricus could teach Philosophaie and Finesse, though he's better at Philosophaie. Teaching that subject he'd be looking for potential recruits for Veriditus naturally.
Question that I don't remember seeing addressed yet: are the faculty, either individually or as a group, responsible for the students in the same way that a magus is responsible for the actions of his apprentice under the Code? And if not, who is?
A pretty good guess, based on the fact that the school has all the rights of a Bonisagus that the headmistress is considered their master under Hermetic law, but it hasn't been tested, nor was it clarified at Grand Tribunal.
Julius will need a teacher with Affinity Terram and MMF Metal at some point.
MMF may need to be adjusted to be an Inherited virtue. I'm thinking virtually any MMF is either inherited, or will be passed along via traditions, or maybe is acquired after graduation by a season of seasoning with the other magus? I'm not saying it won't happen, but the school can't reasonably supply every variant of MMF or mMF.
After playing a bit I could see that we would have to come in here with knowing what the Apprentice will look like as a magus for virtues and flaws. I did not realize that were were so limited in those choices when I left Julius wide open.
And I don't have any objection to adding that MMF as an inherited virtue. You can the. Time when it manifests to maximize virtues you can learn.
And I'm also willing to let virtues and flaws develop as play progresses, because sometimes you can think one way and go a different way, and so I want to be really flexible here.

Which is why I only took like 4 points of each. I wanted to allow for a lot of growth during play.

It was just a new style and I was not quite ready for it. i'll make some adjustments to Julius. My next apprentice is all laid out with a story and a vision on what the magus will look like.
I'm more interested in their 6th-7th year when the Houses ( that are interested) come to recruit. Although that might be earlier. I can see some Houses wanting to "influence" the students to look at their House.
