The Burnt By a Mob Untimely Death card has the following immediate effect: "You may use an Untimely Death card as your second play this turn."
Does this effect allow you to play the Burnt By a Mob as your second play, or rather let you play another Untimely Death card from your had if Burnt By a Mob as played as your second play?

From Kyla: No, neither. Burnt by a Mob itself must be played as your first play. If you play it on one of your own Characters, you may then play a different Untimely Death card as your second play. If you play it on another player’s Character, that player may play an Untimely Death as either or both of their two plays.

Thanks - that's what I meant to say, and was also my interpretation (although hadn't considered the impact of playing it on another player)
