Background
Edwardo was born to a relatively rich family, his father managed to attain the status of a Caballero Villanos in Aragon. However, he had the excellent fortune of many of his sons surviving to childhood. As a result, Edwardo was the fifth son of a moderately wealthy man. He grew up learning some of the skills of a warrior at his father's side, but ultimately he was left without inheritance or great status.
He decided to become a warrior, but without his own equipment, he failed to find a place in the retinue of any noble lord. At first, he starved and lived as an outcast on the street. Then he slid further down the social scale to become a bandit, and not a very good one. He liked people and hated to steal from those who could not afford it, preferring wealthy targets.
These wealthy folk were either skilled combatants or could hire them, so Edwardo failed. He was captured swiftly and slated for execution. However, the strangest thing happened. A woman from the Holy Roman Empire appeared and promised to get him free in exchange for a pledge of loyalty. He immediately didn't trust her, but faced with the hangman's noose, he accepted.
Little did he know that he was coming into the service of a hoplite. He was trained to be able to fight as a group with his fellow hoplites, many of whom had similar stories of being rescued from penury or death by the woman. She trained him hard, but was a generous mistress, for all it rankled to be commanded by a witch. With time he found his place in the turb she had acquired and learned the ways of combat at a magus' side.
During one particularly nasty showdown with some sort of faerie, however, there was some sort of magical accident, and he found that he was "warped" as she described it. Apparently the magic had effected him too much, and now whenever he walks into an area associated with the creatures he starts to bleed and suffer.
Having been saved from certain death, he found that his worries in life have largely evaporated. He has seen the worse, and providence delivered him to something better. This has made him worryingly willing to trust to chance. The only habit of caution is obvious when he has a sword in his hand, and his father's long years of drilling him show.
Appearance
A good looking man, with strong muscles and a chislled jaw. He is quick for his size and quick to smile, with bright blue eyes and the hawk nose well known of many of iberian descent.
