Grogs don't cost build points. 
I wanted to start with a really good teacher and I felt cheesy just making one up. So I spent build points to have a 'specialist' teacher.
I had a flash of insight on how to make my teacher more interesting by giving him a story hook. So here's the revised Alister:

Bio: Alister MacCullogh is an excellent teacher, and he had an excellent career in Edinburgh, teaching Latin, reading, writing, rhetoric, and moral philosophy to the sons of rich merchants. That is, until something odd started to happen - he started to age backwards. Unbeknownst to him, a man he had helped while travelling one day was a faerie lord in disguise. For his generosity in helping a man in distress, the faerie lord blessed him with perpetual youth. Now, perpetual youth brings with it many advantages, but it's not subtle. As time passed, Alister seemed to be aging backwards. There were some who muttered that he must have made a pact with the Adversary to achieve this. As he became younger and younger, Alister lost his pupils and even gave thought to moving away to somewhere that people didn't know him.
Things changed when the faerie lord reappeared, this time in the guise of a wealthy man. His son, he said, needed a permanent tutor in the ways of Scotland, for he'd been away for most of his youth. Would Alister take the job? Well, the son was the magus Gavin, and the place he'd been away was in Faerie. But Alister didn't know this. He took the job and counted his lucky stars.
Since then he's seen some strange things. But given his strange way of aging, perhaps not that strange. He hopes some day to find out what happened to him so that he can thank his benefactor. For on the whole, he has to admit that perpetual youth is rather better than getting old.

This young man (age 15) has been raised in the covenant his whole life, the son of an unmarried serving woman. He ws picked on early in life due to his lack of a father, and quickly learned to defend his honor, as he perceived it, with his fists, until he went from being picked on to picking on others. He has a real talent for brawling, and for some reason his background resonated with Angus' assistant, who recruited him as a shield grog for Angus.
