Spotted an oddity.
Strategy & Tactics are not Professions. Not in anyway I can imagine. I can imagine Tactics being a specialization of Strategy, but Strategy never made it into 5th edition (I yanked it when I wrote up the Almogavars for Grogs). I have become convinced that Strategy (including tactics) would be a specialization of Leadership or Profession: Soldier. Save yourself xp and just boost Leadership. If you want experience with mundane military, take Profession: Soldier.

OK. I'll drop them. I'll raise Leadership 1 point and change the specialty to Strategy & Tactics.

Most military personnel will tell you that Strategy and Tactics are two completely different things, and that it is very rare for one person to be good at both.

Or at least, most of the military personnel that I know have told me this.

I also like Mercuria's suggestion that the Quaesitor you work with after 1217 turns out to be a diabolist that we uncover.

Of course, most military personnel in a position to deal with strategy are far removed from their time in tactics. This also means the tactics they used are usually far out of date. Meanwhile those in charge of tactics are not usually at a level where they would have much experience in strategy. So I would say it's a hard thing to gauge.

I think I responded to a similar but different comment in the Pythos thread. I could see a lot of elements of this working.

I should note the Guillaume will not be a Quaesitor by 1230. He'll have begun his training, but he will not yet have earned the title. I could see that Quaesitor being one of the diabolists as suggested, and discovering this and slaying him is what convinced the Quaesitores that they should consider Guillaume.

I think this is probably going a little too far.

A minor focus is narrower than a single Te+Form. Say, Muto Vim. This would be all the "change a spell" guidelines.
You restricted this to Personal spells, but asked for it to also work for spells like Maintaining the Demanding Spell (ReVi).

But this is an Ignem spell. If you're doing this, this implies that you could cast similar Muto spells on anything that is created by one of your spells, and still benefit from the focus. Like creating some mist (CrAu base 1) and change it into Fire (MuAu base 4). Or into stone. Or create a Memory (CrMe) and then change it (MuMe)

This is looking too much like a Major Focus for me, and maybe more.
=> I'd suggest your Minor Focus to stay limited to Muto, and Rego Vim spells. I'm tempted to include PeVi (aging your spell of cancelling it), but this is beginning to maybe be a little too large despite the limitation, and I'm not sure of myself, so I'd ask for the troupe input.
But no form other than Vim, please.

Looking closer, I am inclined to agree. "Fire Casting" includes creating fire, and sqeeking in the ability to control flames you created. This isn't controlling the flame, it is controlling the spell that preeceeds the flame. You can control the actual fire, not the parameters of the fire spell.

5on't worry about Requisites for ReCo transport spells as far as your clothing and personal possessions are concerned. Your stuff is carried with you. Otherwise this leads to situations where a maga goes to strip so she could teleport home (I told her stop that and just cast the spell). Carrying large objects needs a requisite.

We had the identical spell going around and it was quite popular for hunters of rogues. I used the name Lancea Magica for fear factor. Octavian used it on Metron once and forced him to retreat.

um...is this in the right thread? It looks like it belongs in Vibria - and if so, does that mean that you agree with the revised interpretation (that it only applies to her CrIg flames, but can be Cr or Cr(Re)?

...now I'm really confused. Does this mastery tractus apply to the Touch-based Parma-breaking spell that Pythos has as well? I sure hope they count as Similar Spells....

Boreal Flame is a spell on Guillaume's character sheet, and Guillame is. I got confused because I didn't realize we have TWO magi with Parma-smashing spells, and because the cross-conversations are starting to give me a headache.
