Do you subtract the value of the Tin Cord from Soak regardless of whether you are in a supernatural aura or not, or only while not in a supernatural aura? The sentence structure suggestes the former, the initial description the latter. Would be nice to maybe hear the author's intent with this one. 
I believe my intention was always, because otherwise I would have put it in the preceding sentence.
