I think the ardently-combative wizards keep their ears perked up, and go to other Tribunals where there are Marches happening.
Not lots of such wizards, but a few...
Enough to be an element of a PC's backstory.

True, it only takes one such magus and one March. If you want to play the one apprentice who got to take part in that March with their parens, then you play them.
But even touring Mythic Europe, I doubt marches coming up every tribunal cycle.

A bit of self-promotion, but that "working with a team" part made me think about an idea I had, that your player may find useful: that of Tremere packs. So, they don't need to have all the skills maxed out, just to have a great team (that can be played by the other PCs)
