Grog 50 : Raymond the Lotharingian mercenary

Story:
Raymond grew up on a farm, the son of a freeman farmer and dowser, whose skill he inherited. But he had no intention of combining finding well with subsistence farming. Instead he bent a scythe up and signed up to fight whenever a lordling needed some soldiers. Unbound by any allegiance but that to coin he hired himself out across Upper Lotharingia, Alsace and the Vosges, picking up German in the process. But coin has no smell, and if some magi are willing to pay him to sniff for auras, well he’ll carry his guisarme on his shoulder and hope that no one tries to stab him. He’s broken a number of things over the years, as he can’t always control his bullish strength, but magi don’t seem to care, some can even fix the damage with a few utterances. He’s worked for the magi in Cunfin on and off in the last years, but doesn’t feel any particular loyalty to them
Appearance:
A big strong, armoured man carrying a guisarme and a big bag of provisions. He has very few scars for a man of his profession, mostly on his forearms. he keeps his hair cropped close under his skull cap and he avoids letting his beard grow much longer than a thumbs’ length.
Why are they in the covenant?
Cold, hard cash. He can use his dowsing skills to help magi find things in the wilderness, escort them across the frontier area of the HRE and the kingdom of France, and he can hold his own in a fight.
