Angus grew up in a village in Glencoe in the Scottish Highlands to a family of poor, small croft, farmers. He came to the attention of his future master Fergus ex Miscellanea and was bought from his impoverished family. His master took him to Wicker Hill Covenant for training, which held many Diedne magi. The denouncing of House Diedne forced Fergus and Angus to flee the covenant pursued by the angry Diedne, looking for early kills in the war. The two moved from hidden glade to abandoned farmstead avoiding the warfare, slowly moving south in to Northumbrian. Angus was gauntleted and his master informed him he was leaving for Europe now his training duties were complete. The two left on good terms and Angus went his own way. Over the next seven years Angus kept him self to himself and avoided any area with rumour of Diedne activity. As the warfare diminished Angus realised he would need to seek support for his longevity ritual within the next few years. He was contemplating following his master across the sea when he heard of a group of magi reoccupying Ungulus and decided to investigate if he was welcome.
