These clip earrings allow the wearer once a day to project his or her voice to a place/person he or she has an arcane connection to. Nestor and his wife Jeanne use the pair of them so they can "telephone" at sundown when his parma is down (and he can hear if she is well and vice/versa). He always calls first, so she knows it is safe for him to project her voice. If she didn't answer, Nestor would return at the highest possible speed to the covenant to see what's wrong. If he doesn't call for three days in a row, she is told to alarm the covenant.
