Actually, there's a lot of things they could do to attempt increasing interest, but that's their gig and I don't want to presume and they may have those things in the works. I'm hoping we'll start to see some of that coming up.

I will try to find 150, but I fear I can go no higher then 50 due to car expenses. I would love to see this happening, and would bow to the wearer of the order of hermes headpiece is I ever meet him or her.
Well, currently have no ability to add myself to the pledge, but i have posted on a few major forums to try to spank up some interest. Response is a bit on the low side though.
Well, got at least one positive reply in all places, so a few additional people at least. Bit sad though to get just ONE positive reply on a forum with over 20k users on. Oh well...
I think that's the ticket. Whether you can pledge or not, and many aren't in a position to right now, pledge some of your internet time instead. Help get the word out there. Let people know about the project, the vision, and the fantastic reward structure on the kickstarter project page.
Maybe add a link to the free ArM4 PDF book to whet people's appetite. If nothing else, it's an opportunity for them to have a read of Ars Magica, and it may prompt them into taking a punt on the kickstarter.
Oh damn, had forgotten about that. Good suggestion.
To serve people without the resources to make huge pledges, I wonder if we could organize a [strike]lottery[/strike] group investment scheme. Have the price of entry be $10 or something, and then the [strike]winner[/strike] group's designated representative (one or many, depending on how many entries) gets the perks of the $250 pledge or something. I've already pledged some, but I would probably enter this too.
Hmmm. I am on record as saying that I hope that a Diedne book never happens, and I will stick to my convictions on this matter. On the other hand, I love Ars Magica, adore complex strategy games, and will gladly pony up my hard-earned cash for this project. This is awesome news and I hope that the finished product is every bit as good as it sounds from the teaser.
I'm just going to have to leave the Diedne book sitting there, unopened, taunting me.
Good luck with that!
Agreed. This is a nice project which I would really like to see happen.
I'm in.
One thing to note is that simply because this push doesn't succeed, doesn't mean a second push can't be made.
There are a lot of possible things which could be done for a KS campaign, which I haven't seen this one do yet, and it could be that this campaign lays the groundwork for the next campaign-- which does succeed.
Just a consideration.

I did ask about that in my interview, and BC said it was unlikely, but "never say never"

So... is there general consensus that this kick starter is going to fail? I've wanted essentially this game for a long time, so I'm kinda sad to see this kickstarter attract so little interest.

From this point it would need an unusual event to change the trend and push it over the edge.
Such events do occur, but they are not part of the general run of kickstarters.
Which is to say, they could pull it off, mostly by luck. If they had a shot in their locker to provoke an event that causes a substantial change in trend, you'd suspect they'd have fired it by now.

I choose to remain unreasonably optimistic.
I read a lot of gaming-related news, blogs, etc, that frequently mention kickstarter-projects. Have yet to see this one covered. Wonder what the company is doing to seek publicity from a wider interest-group. There are a lot of potential supporters who would be interested in this project who have never heard of Ars Magica.
I fear that is the problem - while a few friends have expressed interest and funded, despite not knowing Ars Magica, I think most of the support has come from hardcore enthusiasts for the game. And even hard core Ars players depart the forum for months or years, as they dabble in other games I suspect??? So it is vital to not rely on the Ars fans alone, but to reach out other communities, especially computer gaming ones.
There's a conversation to be had here, certainly. But I don't know that it needs to be had on the forum, or that it's going to be had. Not all models are for everyone.

Well on the plus side pledges have picked up quite a bit now, so hopefully things are building up, however slowly, and it will happen

Kicktraq puts it at an outer total of 91K, with an upper ceiling of 95K. We would need to see daily totals of $23K in order to reach greenlight at this point.
By comparision, Numenera, Monte Cook's kickstarter, averaged 8K-ish and 75ish backers, until the end, when it was closing in on 500K+, blowing the doors down for a tabletop RPG idea and then saw its number of backers increase 50% (3K to 4.5K) over the last 5 days. We haven't seen this sustain any sort of momentum close to that-- and we needed something like that. We needed 10K per day.
Numenera saw updates approximately daily. It saw spiraled details. It had momentum because the target was lower, it was hit, and that encouraged more people to sign on and push it further. I have watched and participated in a number of campaigns. After nearly 90 projects, and I've been an active contributor of maybe 10% of them, I can confidently say getting to greenlight is demanding. I'll leave it at that.

Don't get me wrong.
I want this. I want this with desire that burns hot as stars are hot. I've ponied up $150, I've posted to my G+ of about 3K, I've bumped it a couple times and contributed how I could. I can taste the vellum, that's how bad I want this to succeed.
And maybe we can hit those numbers before it's done. We won't get clobbered by Black Friday, and that's a bonus. We could still manage a groundswell. But making that happen is more than I can do.
