No, I don't see any need to make Touch-range-and-above spells not penetrate, though I recognize the way things work is a bit quirky.

It's magic - it doesn't have to follow any mundane "sense" or logic. Like I said, both interpretations work, but, yeah, one is easier to work with.
IBT - what's up with the brothers? Last SG post was Monday, today's Friday - are they going to followup, or any specific comments to Theo (we can assume they share the info, unless otherwise noted), or should Sal' move the plot forward?
(And on that general subject, is there any ballpark posting rate for this game? Any target for expected participation, so we have a feel when someone is "absent"?)
I'll get to the brothers today, but I don't think they should push any harder on the barmaid. Salutor can move the story forward with my blessing anytime.
My post rate varies because of work/family. I can't commit to respond to the forums every day, and story responses take a bit longer.
And I've been visiting my parents, and on the road most of two days this week...but I would like to see things pick up a bit beyond the speed of the last week or two.
Scott
Posting "every day" is a bit much, at least for most. Even every other day can be a challenge, altho' that would be nice. In my experience if things start to drop toward 2x/week, story elements get forgotten by players, as "a couple minutes ago" in the story can easily become closer to a month (or longer) IRL.
If we could keep it at least 3x/week, I think that would be great, not only for pace of plot development but also for keeping both interest and memory sharp.
On the subject of suppressing Magic Resistance....Summarizing from the short discussion in the caves thread: ironboundtome I think makes good points about making interactions between magical creatures easier. I take Salutor's point that not having MR be suppressible gives Parma an advantage, but Parma has other advantages as well, such as the fact that it can be learned (and improved), and its sheer effectiveness (Viola, for instance, has an MR of 36 in Mentem, and at least 30 against everything else--that's a good bit more than the vast majority of magical beings).
CH, do you have an opinion?
Scott
I've seen it done several diff ways - each has pros/cons for diff stories. No real preference by me, so long as its consistent.
Hello. I will be joining the saga as soon as I can make up a proper character. But before I did that, I wanted to poll the existing players to see what sort of a character you think you need. I can't guarantee I'll play it. But it's always good to get pushed in a particular direction.
As long as you're not overtly matching any of the existing magi I can't see an issue. have a read of what we have in the magi character post; that has most of what the magi are.
Just remember that, as a visiting magus (at least initially), he'll need a reason to be out here in the middle of nowhere.

Welcome!
Two of us are still in the CharGen process ourselves. Don't worry about what we "need" - just bring a good story, and it will all work out.
Okay, I'm closing in on a Creo/Rego magus (focusing on Co, He, and Te) fleeing east from a diabolic past.
BTW, how do you handle familiars? What can I choose? How do I stat the familiar, etc.?
You'll find rules on constructing a familiar in the "House Rules" thread, pinned at the top of the list. That's all you should need for picking a familiar during character creating--doing it during play will also require a story, usually.
BTW, you'll want to use the "Character Development" thread to discuss your character generation process.

Just spoke with the boss and I've been invited to join in. I'm tossing a few ideas around in my head, I'll develop them here.
Welcome
Welcome. I'm in the wings myself waiting to introduce my character.
Brilliant. I'm mulling over a few concepts. I've always wanted to play a Criamon, but I've never quite figured them out ... I guess that's part of the game I've also been considering a feral Animal Summoning ex Miscelenae, or some sort of warrior magus. Now that I remember, the Criamon Path of Strife is quite warrior-like ...

Did you ever get yours finalized?
