OOC: PrePlay discussion

Or, she has to shave her head, and ends up looking like this!
Edit: Man, I didn't realize how big that picture was. Instead, I'll just link to it: Lt. Ilia (Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

Hmm... in keeping with the theme of her warped magic, and seeking enlightenment: tattoo's slowly appear across her body, words in languages long forgotten. (Or at least unknown to Eve). They leave when Eve extracts the vis in the lab of course, but she always makes sure to copy them down as accurately as she can in case she ever does find a way to translate them.

Send me a PM with either an email address or an existing Obsidian Portal user name and I'll send out invites.

Put your 75 build points of stuff in the Covenant description thread. I stole some of qcipher's because I already had a magic effect for the beer. They still count as his build points. :stuck_out_tongue:

I will start throwing out some Introductory threads for the characters. They will generally be meetings with Laterala and other "players" in the Tribunal. Feel free to add a prelude story for your character like JL did with Ophelia if you would like.

He stole it from US!!!!

I just got the Obsidian Portal email, I'll hop on that when I can. How often will we be making use of that? I have more frequent access to the Atlas forum. But either way I'll strive to do a better job of keeping up with the paper work required.

No, he stole it from you. :stuck_out_tongue:

I'm just using it as a wiki. The game will run through here.

Until the site comes crashing down again...

I'll change it back to mine if you want to do another vis source. i just added the two you already had on your build points.

No no, I'm glad to see it get used. That it came from my spent points is no concern of mine.

Don't tell me you didn't get the Gollum reference!

Did you drop your Precious?

I added Diotima's contribution to the covenant thread. Mostly books, but I'm also bringing mundane wealth, and it's mine, all mine !

Reviewing the library, I'm noticing a distinct lack of of ability summae in the oppida's library. Is this by design or an oversight?

You do have build points. That's enough for a couple good summae, and then a tractus.

Yes, I know I have build points, it's why I'm asking the question. If it was not an oversight, I know where I'll direct some of my build points. Ability summae are very expensive, though, so it won't go a long way, or their quality will be pretty dismal. An L5Q10 summa is 25 build points, for example. So a couple of good summae is rather unlikely.

You could always buy a team of tutors. I wouldn't put it past the Tremere to give mundanes access to magical items so they could practice finesse and concentration. Plus they could have picked up someone with a supernatural ability to learn penetration. And most of the rest of the arcane abilities are things that are easy to learn from a book.

That works up to a point. However, a lot of specialists will require monetary support. I'm not sure how detailed jebrick is going to be on covenant support. But, if these teaching specialists aren't used regularly, I think we can expect the Tremere to reallocate them to a different oppida. That may be less likely to happen with books. And there is one ability that specialists can't teach.

I did see some early discussion between Halancar and jebrick about using build points for mundane books. I wish I'd noticed that/paid attention to that earlier so I could have added my voice to the chorus. Ability summae are expensive. An L5Q10 ability summa provides 75 xp, when starting from a score of 0, it costs 25 build points. An Arts summa that is roughly commensurate for XP purposes is L12Q10, which provides 78 xp and costs only 22 build points. The difference continues to increase.

I can bring a Parma book, but rest assured, it will be in Greek. Almost everyone will be interested in a Parma summa, at some point, but one in Greek will be of much limited use to everyone else. The level I'm considering might be beneficial to Diotima, but that's it. I can be mercenary about this, but I prefer to think of the group, in general.

Eh a good chunk of my points were spent mercenary wise. Unless the other PCs are going to join the cult, its only gonna help out me. (Of course, we have free virtues if you do join.)

Not happening. There's only one God.
I'd generally prefer that the Parma book be available to everyone, and not come from player build points, but I have no issue with using them for said book. My prelude also suggest that I'm bring Unraveling the Fabric of Terram mastery texts, too. Although that might be important to everyone.

In translating a greek parma book to latin, would it lose any quality or level?

Would any of the various translators/specialists be able to do that? No problem bringing in the greek parma book, just want to know our options vs actually learning greek.

Oversight on my part. I'll add some. You can also request books from the Tremere.
