Range, duration and target questions

Does anybody have the range, target and durations for Sorcerous Music from Mysteries book pg28 I think. Do not have that book and wanted make spells for a Bard Character...??? :stuck_out_tongue:

Thrumbar

I'm visiting my parents and don't have access to my books but I recall that sorcerous music was a virtue that added a character's perform score to their casting totals whenever they used music for casting. From the standpoint of fourth edition virtues this was similar to "affinity everything" and I recall thinking it over powered at the time. (In fifth edition virtues have been geven a bit more oomf).

If you want to create a bard who is a companion and magical I suggest looking at the enchantign music virtue and perhaps modifiying it to meet your particular need.

If you wish to create a heremtic who casts magic with song I'd suggest beneficial circumstances, when singing, and perhaps a minor virtue with a bevey of new ranges durations and targets dealing with song.

(Duration: song, lasts as long as the caster continuous to sing. maintaing a song is somewhat eaisier than maintaining concentration on a spell, target numbers for maintaining a song are somewhat lower than those for maintaining concentration.
Duration: performance, lasts as long as a song endures. The performers may change over the course of the performance. This duration could, in theory, endure indefinately.)

It is indeed page 28. (+01 Virtue)
Range: Audible
Equivalent to the Far Range.
Reaches anything that can hear the Caster's Voice
or the Sound of the Caster's Music

Duration: Song
Equivalent of Concentration.
Cast spells that last as long as a song is sung or a musical instrument is played.
The singer or player need not be the Caster himself ,
but the music must begin before the spell is cast.
As long as the music continues , the spell will continue.
When the original musician stops ,
another person can keep the spell going
by picking up the same tune
and rolling a Com + Sing (or Play (Instrument)) roll of 6+.

Target/s:
Singer , equivalent to Individual
Chorus , equivalent to Group

Allows you to target anyone who is singing a particular song
or playing a particular piece of music.
The music must begin before the spell is cast.
When the original musician stops ,
the spell will switch to any one person who picks up the same tune
and makes a Com + Sing (or Play (Instrument)) roll of 6+.
(If more than one person tries to pick up the spell,
the person with the highest roll wins the spell.)

Once a spell with a target of Singer is cast ,
the target can leave the original range of the spell ,
and even the sight of the caster ,
without disrupting the spell
as long as the target continues to make music.

The target Chorus follows the same guidelines as Singer ,
except it applies to a group of people
that satisfy the requirements of the spell target Group.

Casting with Music:
Instead of using magic words and gestures ,
you may cast Hermetic spells with musical instruments or song.
Unlike typical words and gestures ,
which seem unearthly and obviously magical to the mundane eye ,
your music does not give away the fact you are casting a spell.
In addition ,
you may add your Sing or Play (Instrument) score
to your casting total.
Words and Gestures bonuses and penalties do not apply
when casting a spell with music.

Thank you, sir

I loved my fearie raised Merenita bard with these Powers (ok they were too overpoverd wit gentle gift)... i hope in the Jerbiton chapter of the last HoH Book inculdes new rules für magic musik, the most important thing are the Duration: Song (make a magic item and you have permanent spells) and "nstead of using magic words and gestures ,
you may cast Hermetic spells with musical instruments or song.
Unlike typical words and gestures ,
which seem unearthly and obviously magical to the mundane eye ,
your music does not give away the fact you are casting a spell." because in this way you can play a beloved bard in mundane society (i can t wait till C&G) with all the hermetic powers.
