Hugh shakes his head. He looks very flustered. "No, that was... a proper spell. I'm sorry, Alva. I thought you... we were going to die, for a moment. And it would have been my fault."
He casts two spells in quick succession, then relaxes a little bit.
[Tireless Magus and Sustain the Demanding Spell, rolls on discord]
"Do you have a way to protect us from the weather? We are in his home, I think he will come to us. If he goes elsewhere, we can destroy the cave, and we will have done what was asked of us." Hugh will move around the cave, seeing if anything smells of magic.
After his spell, Hugh suddenly is showing no signs of fatigue. He looks out at the storm, and nods to himself. He begins casting, the same spell he cast that dispelled the necromancy, but then he suddenly interrupts himself, and beings casting another spell in the midst of casting the first.
[Hugh is casting formulaic, Dispelling Touch. Then he is using a spontaneous MuVi to change the range of the spell from touch to sight, fatiguing and activating LLSM. Major change, so it's level/2 +1 (which accounts for the touch range of the MuVi spell) he is adding 2 magnitudes, which is within the limit so that he doesn't have a Creo req.
Rolls on Discord. Succeeded with 2 fatigue. But just realized that a MuVi going over level 50 may have to be a ritual. Since Dispelling Touch is lvl 30, the MuVi needs to be lvl 60. I'm hoping there's an exception, for General guidelines maybe, to the rule of needing to be a ritual over level 50.]
There is not, but I do allow spontaneous rituals(essentially ceremonial casting of a spontaneous spell with a vis requirement). However the diedne magic ability to add the lowest art again should not stack with a minor focus since they are essentially the same mechanism, similar to potent magic.
I was not aware of your rule on Diedne Magic + Minor Focus; given that my mmf (changing spells) is mostly useful for spontaneous magic, may I swap it out for Free Study? (which I won't expect to apply retroactively).
Regarding the current situation, what he was attempting was impossible (since a spont ritual won't be able to effect a mom spell); so he will just go for a spontaneous dispel - should I reroll or use the current roll?
Hugh nods. "I'll be fine, don't worry." He looks out the cave entrance, is there any sign of anyone out there? "I can't really do anything with them, the ideal would be to summon the person they're a link to, but I can't do that spontaneously. And it's not in my area of magical expertise anyway. But if you think we're done in here, we can step out and I'll get rid of the cave."
