Summer 1202 up the rainbow bridge

Should we just assume the two press on? I think Alva has faerie blood enough to see in the dark; and once back maybe she decides adventures are too scary and Hugh goes on alone?

I don't know why I keep on ending up on solo quests, it's not intentional.

Alva does not answer for some reason and Hugh presses on. She may or may not find her way to the covenant on her own.

Hugh will continue to his chambers, and rest, sleeping in the next day. After eating his noon meal, he returns to the rainbow bridge to speak with Heimdall.

"Good day, Heimdall. Were you watching us? The servant of Loki is gone. I tried to kill him, but he was a coward and didn't confront us directly, so I couldn't. But his home is no more, and I believe he fears us too much to stay near."

"I did watch, and you did as I asked and routed him from his nest, but he has not fled, and he approaches the covenant to seek revenge. But I will give you the directions you seek. At the equinox of fall Lord Odin will begin preparations for the solstice hunt, and gather his forces at his northern lodge. You must begin by traveling to the mountain Blokktinden, nearly 500 miles north by northwest of Flam, and climb from base to peak, 2,200 feet. At the very peak you must be present when the moon rises on solstice night, for this is when the lodge will appear to mortal eyes, for the diameter when the moon is rising but upon the horizon, should you miss the window you will have to wait a year to try again. While the lodge is in sight you must enter past the watch of his wolves, Geri and Freki, who guard the entrance against monsters and Jotun alike. If you gain entrance past their watchful eye, and can stay the night within the lodge then you will be able to approach the lord Odin when he arises with the dawn and ask him your boon, but be prepared to swear him your fealty, for should he believe you are an intruder with anything but the most benign of intentions he will slay you with but a moment's thought."

Hugh listens attentively, nodding. "I understand. Thank you. I will prepare now for battle against the servant of Loki."

Hugh leaves, and does as he said, once back in the covenant's aura he warns the soldiers that an enemy is on the way, and casts a spells to suppress his fatigue, and a spell to maintain that, in preparation for battle.

Then he borrows his familiar's power of transformation, and in the form of a falcon, flies high over the covenant, looking around for approaching threats.

[Rolls on discord, all formulaic so wasn't really a chance of failure; power is Per/Conc/Ind transforming to falcon. Rolled a 10 on per/awareness as falcon.]

This adventure is over- they are headed this way but will not attack the covenant this summer. Consider Heimdal's warning foreshadowing. Hugh in the shape of an eagle is unable to see any sign of the approaching Muspelli. Spend the experience and you can seek Odin in the fall if you so desire.

Ok. I was planning on pursuing other leads, because Hugh isn't keen on swearing fealty, but I will hold off.

That's fine, but I do want to give people a chance to introduce other characters.

Unfortunately despite Hugh's assumptions, Alva cannot see in the dark, and becomes turned around quickly in the dark.

my mistake, I was looking for faerie sight and overlooked that.
okay, consider this adventure closed.
