We know that Hermetic Intellego magic that grants magic senses must Penetrate the Magic Resistance of the sensed creature because getting rid of that is one of the possible Integration effects of incorporating Folk Witch magic. Sense of the Mystic from HMRE p53.
edit: and after I submitted this @OneShot’s post saying the same thing popped up like a ninja.
Sorry, I must have been very tired when I wrote that, and then wrong word got conflated.
Yet all I was getting from HoH:S p61 was that humans regularly encounter 4 types of species that we have sense organs to receive and interpret. I wasn’t seeing anything in that section even implying that there weren’t only types of species that humans didn’t have sense organs to detect.
Magnetoreception being a pertinent example, if ME Natural Philosophers knew of it.
The argument that Supernatural Virtues related to sensing say nothing of producing extra sense organs is kind of compelling.
However Magi of House Bjornaer, and others with Shapeshifting magic are probably familiar with extra animal sense like magnetoreception or the vomeronasal organ of canines.
So can experienced shapeshifters design synesthesia MuIm spells that changes those species into something a mundane human can then detect.
Do animals in Mythic Europe even have magnetoreception or vomeronasal organs? The only unusual sense for an animal that I can think of was added in AMDE so bats can have eyes of the bat as a Quality which is implied to work like the spell Eyes of the Bat allowing them to “hear” the “boundaries of the air”. Which is sorta sonar, but not really. Dogs have the keen sense of smell Quality (and maybe Virtue too), not vomeronasal organs; seems like they have the same sense for olfactory species that people do, just at a +3 (or +6 if they have the Virtue too) bonus.
