Table Talk - Development

I really like how we're weaving a bunch of the character histories together. But am I the only one who's losing track? I think we should keep one timeline into which we can put the different elements to make sure we're all on the same page. We could do that here, copying previous versions and adding to them so the final version would have everything in it. How does that sound?

Sounds like a good idea to me. Sort of an interwoven timeline, where any event that affects two or more characters is added?

Not gonna HR this, but I don't mind a player coming up with one or two unique F&E bonuses for their Talisman. But I won't defend it if another player calls shenannigans.

But now that I look closer, it never says you have to stabalize the new components, just discover 7 new ones. This will only take a season or two, and you get to reuse these in your personal magic.
Tell you what I'll do. Spend at least two seasons but no more than four. Spend those xp (20 to 40) directly on new F&E bonuses. Cost equals the bonus value. Divide amongst at leat seven new items, and put any spare xp into Alchemy Lore or some such.
Refining should be easier than indicated, I do agree. How about this: instead of a # of successful experiments, how about a number of success points based on that formula? Each time you work to refine the bonus, treat it as an experiment and roll a die, accumulating points until the item is stabalized? This will still take 1 to 4 seasons per item, but is a lot faster.

OK. Here it comes. I don't love tables in the forums, but they do format well. What we can do is quote this, remove the quote tags, and edit it. Let's just have one date for each year and insert everything into the paragraphs beside that year.

Looks great!

OK. Those were lab seasons. So I'll treat them as learning seasons but distribute the experience as you say instead. These will be limited bonuses at the moment.

So in the back of my mind now that I'm not worried about food, water, and electricity, I've been thinking about the companion idea I mentioned. I've been trying to refine things in a way that makes sense. Here's what I've got at the moment. How does it sound?

She was born (somewhere in northern Iberia) to parents who each carried faerie blood. Her mother is pretty and partly descended from sidhe (or something similar). Her father was a craftsman partly descended from dwarves. He worked his way up in the guild and has become a man of renown. Their faerie blood mingled and made her blood very strong. Not only did her faerie heritage shine through, but she was born with the Gift, too. Her parents were very frustrated due to the problems her Gift created. As much as they tried to control and limit her she fought back, only making things worse. Her parents were thrilled when an older man (a Verditius) arrived and offered them money to take her with him. But several years later, after her Arts had been opened and she was initiated into the first Verditius mysteries, there was a laboratory accident. Though the accident left her master intact, it damaged her Gift, mostly destroying it. Some remnant remains, and she can craft certain things extraordinarily well (Touched by Magic representing the lingering part of her Gift mixed with Verditius Magic). Her master returned her to her family and took back the money he had given them plus what he considered payment for having trained her and fed her for all that time, claiming she had been a nuisance all along by refusing many instructions and the like. Now her parents had her instead of much of their wealth. Fortunately she was older and pretty like her mother, and she no longer had the taint of the Gift. Her father used her beauty and her talent as bargaining chips to arrange a marriage between her and a powerful noble's non-inheriting son. The noble figured his son would be happy with her face while he would get his hands on a sort of lesser court wizard. Again she was faced with a chain she did not wish. But this time she was older and wiser. She slipped out in the night and went in search of something better. She stole along the way and found herself good at sneaking about and catching rumors, though not at defending herself. Eventually she realized she should seek out a covenant where she could trade her talent for a certain amount of freedom, and rumors eventually led her to Andorra.

Save me the next space. Ot takes me forever to edit one of these things using the phone. i am in the middle of one and saved the draft to mention this (the longer the post, the slower the phone goes).

So wait!

Don't post yet! Because of the size of the document and limitations of the phone, I can only edit half of it at a time. The first one inserts Carmen from 1219 onwards (though some 1220 details were ommitted). I can sew it together later (unless someone wants to sew it for me  ).
Coming up next is the insert for 1220 and earlier...

Great idea, although a shared google doc would be better.

Easier to access and to edit.

Cool! Looking forward to working with her!

Nous sommes des soeurs jumelles, nées sous le signe des géneaux

I will fix up my timeline entry this afternoon, so someone else can take it from there. I added Carmen mainly. Other crap includes history, hooks, and hints you may find useful to your characters.
This thing should cycle around again maybe, so people canmodify or add details as inspired by the material added by others.
I also wanna set it up where Pythos runs into Golda and/or others in Barcelona at some point between 1210 and 1230.

This list should specifically be how the characters interact with each other, right? It's going to get really long if we also include all the major events in each character's life...

I didn't realize that at first
But it is just a tad, and will help others coordinate when and where their character could have met up with whome.
For example, I bumped Loukasmeeting Carmen to 1212 (after her gauntlet instead of before, and after Pietro becomes her mentor). I also allude to the fact that there may have been something.
Other stuff I added is for you guys. I included the drake hunt and the dragon favor as a hook for Vibria. I mention Golda because I liked Amuls suggestion of her knowing Python. I put in Shadow Wars stuff because many characters are tying ino that.

I say add some personal landmarks. Not your whole life story. Just major thngs others can use as a tie in (or perhaps to generate future stories).

And I cut a lot of extemperaneous crap! I am wordy. And a bad speller.

from the peanut gallery
Google spreadsheet, every PC gets a column. Insert a year as necessary for important events in PC's life...

That's what Fixer suggested. But I am torn. I do want to keep as much data here as possible, an open resource for any lurkers. But links work, and there is an old-old-old Andorra wiki that is waaaay outta date.
