The council chamber

As I said before, I accept the ruling!

My previous understanding of Fertility magic, with 35 required Breakthrough points, was that it was much closer to the definition of Minor Breakthroughs, by the book, "Typically requires around 30 breakthrough points." than Major "typically requires around 45 breakthrough points.", so I hardly think I am conveniently "reading the rules as I wish" or some such.

Getting back on track, would a Virtue granted by one of the Familiars fulfill the "Magic-aligned Virtue" to stop the Warping?

Ok, it is not so feasible after all. :frowning:

This is the route that Aurthor wants to take for his son.

Induce his familiar to acquire a Grant Supernatural Virtue to use on Mercurio, protecting him from the high aura effects.

Maybe a second power would be needed, that tailor all the familiar's powers for one particular subject and negate warping from powerful magical effects (like ritual like effects of grant virtue powers).

Yes and no. An ability granted by a familiar could prevent warping if it is supernatural in nature, however the act of granting the virtue will induce warping. Now if confidence (or might) is spent to grant the virtue permanently then a one time warping will prevent long term warping...

Hi silveroak, reviewing the Ritual power Grant Minor Virtue in RoP:Magic I notice now that it is designed using the Ritual Power quality only once (for a total of 25 levels of effects).

So this power is effectively below the 30 levels limit which qualifies it as a powerful mystical effect and it should not inflict warping if the virtue is granted permanently.

Am I right?

Actually that reminds me: I assumed it wasn't when Blossom was using hers on Anna because it was under 30. However it would be completely reasonable for it to be a powerful effect anyway. The 30 thing isn't a hard and fast rule, especially when you get away from Hermetic spells.

So, silveroak, you're saying grant virtue DOES count as a powerful mystic effect?

no, though since a major virtue requires 50 levels obviously that would, plus the annual warping if the ritual is maintained instead of invested with confidence or might.

OOC- Was this approved/resolved? Gloriana can't botch this ritual (-6 botch dice, including Mastery 1 Stalwart). Ordinarily would take 5 vis, Mercurian reduces to 3, she uses her Imbued with Corpus and it comes cheap, she would pocket 1 Co pawn and spend 2 of her Long-Term fatigue + remaining Co pawn.

Will also add annual vis to the characters I run.

accounts for 1126:
Beginning inventory: 18 2/3 tonnes silver
Income: 3 5/7 tonnes silver
Expenses: 1 tonne silver
Ending balance: 21 3/7 Tonnes silver

If any of the mages want a more detailed breakdown Lucio will provide it upon request.

news of 1126:
Pope Honorius II is embroiled in the intrigues surrounding the successor ship of the Holy Roman Empire, having invited Lothair to come to Rome to be crowned while Lothair is unable to leave Germany due to the intensity of the fighting between various claimants to the throne.

in 1127 Alberto installs the glass prop in your sanctum, it covers Me, Re, and In, leaving CrCo the only requested combination not covered with these props. Adding another prop with Creo as one of it's covered arts will cover this. Also the question stands which seasons you are willing to allow anyone to study artwork in your sanctum.

CrCo? Do you mean CrMe? Phillippe created the artwork for Corpus in 1126, what arts did he cover? Gloriana will ask for a CrMe prop (and if this can be created with some other arts at the same time, say Pe and Mu, or CrIm and CrVim, fantastic). Gloriana is absurdly proud of the artwork, her "patronage", etc, and gushes over the artists.

••edited, ahh, found it in the artwork in the wiki. so currently covered are the following: 1 statue Co, Re, In, Cr, the other Me, In or Re,
So CrMe, InMe, ReMe, InCo, ReCo. Well, would like as mentioned before a Cr/Vim/Ima or Cr/Pe/Mu.

The season of artwork study will vary from year to year, basically, she has to be in the Lab to keep an eye, an ear, and a thought on these visitors. She's also very sociable, even if the Blatant Gift makes it likely that she'll be stabbed in the back by mundanes.

1127 - Summer, Fall
1128 - Summer, Fall
1129 - Fall, Winter
1130 - Summer, Winter

I will endeavor to plan 3 seasons at a time, and indicate which ones will be available with some advance notice.

A further question, silveroak: you mentioned that with the Neo Mercurians, she has to spend a whole year in the main Initiation. Is this true even if she already has the Mercurian Magic Virtue? To plan ahead.

so which artist do you want to create the next piece?

The neo-mercurians require one year to learn Mercurian magic. The next initiation is for performance magic, mystagoge has Neo-Murcurian Lore:5, presence 3, and the script calls for traveling far to a specific place and time, the sacrifice of material goods, one season of service from the initiate and one season of time from the mystagogue. The initiation sacrifice cost is 5 lbs of silver to purchase the pure white sacrificial goat.

For the new prop, Zola Potter, she seems to be at the top of her game!

Gloriana will request the disbursement, she has no silver, personally. Will schedule for 1232. Two seasons? (Adventure 1 season to travel to this far place, and 1 season service).

you can travel in the same season you serve, as long as it takes less than 10 days to get there...

News of 1127- William II of Apulia has died, leaving no heirs, and as agreed when Roger II lent him knights, Roger takes possession of William II's lands. He then proceeds to claim the totality of Calabria for himself, upsetting some other members of the family who had what they considered independent claims and resulting in Pope Honorius II calling for a crusade against Roger II, offering absolution and indulgences to those who take up the cause. Robert II of Capua and Ranulf II of Alife are the commanders of the resistance appointed by the pope.
Meanwhile Conrad III has been elected anti-king in Germany and is scheduled to be crowned King of Italy (a meaningless title except as a placemarker in the struggle to rule the Holy Roman Empire) next year.
The Grand Tribunal will meet next year, where representatives picked in 1123 will represent the tribunal and submit their 3 motions. Other magi are of course free to attend, witness and engage in inter-tribunal commerce.

Also Roger II makes it know to Lady A that he will expect either the use of "her" knights in the spring of 1128 for 60 days. In actual fact she is only obligated to send one, but by sending more (or additional types of soldiers) she will be entitled to a greater portion of the plunder should the siege succeed. Alternately she can pay 5 pounds of silver to cover her obligation with no chance at a portion of the plunder.

It should be noted that plunder does not have to be in the form of silver- if the lords being attacked have any magical items they have purchased or vis sources on their estates these can certainly be requested form of reward...

1127 financial report:
Starting reserve: 21 3/7 tonnes silver
income salt: 1 tonne silver
income cotton: 2 6/7 tonnes silver
total income: 3 6/7 tonnes silver
expenses: 1 tonne silver
final reserve: 24 1/3 tonnes silver

1127, you say, not 1128?
Sandor steps up to the plate! Quite unbidden, his mother will forbid it adamantly, but he's dismissive of her commands...after all he's the heir, and a man, not a boy!
What are the requisites here? Does it work like an adventure? Can he take minions (men-at-arms, etc)?

It will work as a series of adventures until the 60 days is reached. (yes it is in 1128) I had originally considered running it for armsmen only as an always-combat adventure, but with an actual companion character along will run it as a regular adventure as he is more involved with political and strategic decisions.taking armsmen from the covenant would not be considered a violation of the non-nterferance, so long as no magi accompany you.
