The council chamber

Hermagoras has earned the covenant 32 pawns of vis (of account) this year, as well as contributing 2 new books, and has petitioned for a longevity ritual.
Byron has earned the covenant 34 pawns of vis, and would like to have a longevity ritual when he reaches age 35.

If the Council approves these LR, Gloriana is willing to create one of these in 1131.

Aurthor has no objections regarding the vis expenditure for these longevity rituals, but he is not a specialist and doesn't volunteer for their creation.

Similar to Aurthor, Oliverius approves of this LR creation, but is not a specialist. He would be willing to do them if nobody else does, but would not volunteer unless asked.

Roger II will be launching another campaign in the Spring of 1129

news of 1128:
Roger II has defeated Ranaulf II, accepting his pledge of vassalage and has been invested by Pope Honorarius as the Duke of Calabria and Apulia- save Capua which the Pope had made a separate region in 1137. Pope Honorius' excommunication of Roger II has also been rescinded, along with the papal claims on Apulia.
1129 is of course the grand tribunal at Deurenmar, held in June.

Aurthor would like to proceed with the clarification of "The Ultimate Power of Command" rego summa , for this purpose he asks to use 12 pawns of vim vis from the covenant's stocks (the highest single component would be the resonant material, a semi-precious stone).

Aurthor enquiries also about the annual vis expenditure of the covenant.

Regarding the Aegis of the Hearth in particular, I see that Evandrus with the help of Gloriana could cast a level 40 version with a fairly high penetration and a cost of 4 pawns of vis thanks to their mercurian magic virtue, is this assumption correct?

Hi leo! Gloriana can't actually cast the Wizard's Communion she knows, because it is too high a level for her Arts (an artifact of Mercurian Magic, which gives the maga a free Wizard's Communion at the same level whenever she learns a ritual higher in level than any she currently has. Since she learned a 6oth level CrCo ritual as her first Ritual, she also has a 60th level Wiz. Com, bahh, and she can't use it!). She plans on inventing a version she can actually cast very soon.

Currently Evandrus casts the Aegis alone, with I think a +49 total, just about (ReVi 28 + 5 Sta + 6 Aura + 4 Mastery + 6 AL/Phi and +3 Penetration skill +4 Penetration Mastery), so not amazing Penetration, although pretty good for a single magus! But I think the 25th level Aegis is the one we are using for that reason. So 3 pawns of Vim vis?

I did not realize that Gloriana can't cast a wizard communion at 60th level. The 25th level version of the aegis is more plausible then.

So, when you finally take your own apprentice, you should teach them a low-level ritual first, so they can have some useful Communions before teaching the higher level ones.

Ignes.Festivus, as a covenant we can surely spend a couple of vis in the purchase of a lab text for a decent day of communion spell! Aurthor would automatically vote for this decision.

Anna will push for Blossom to be allowed to have a job as a covenant tutor with the council. She's got fairly good at teaching, teaching!

Oliverius would want the opinions of Lucio and Marcus for this, as the autocrat and premier educators of the covenant. Assuming they want her assistance, he is happy with it.
Mercurio is going to be very jealous, since he has been relegated to being a scribe, and he feels his charm, wit, and bravery are wasted in a room full of books.

Lucio and Marcus are fine with the move- Lucio simply sees no problem with it from an administrative position, Marcus feels she is better qualified to teach than Prosperina and could be of great benefit to the teaching rotation, but he wants to set up classes in scribe each year with Blossom directing much of her experience (up to 1/2 from each class) into her teaching ability, until she gets her scribe ability to 5 in preparation for when she will need to publish, as well as needing to attend at least one class on magic theory.

I have moved blossom's column over by the instructors and changed her winter chores into her first teaching assignment. I would recommend learning teaching with divided experience from classes until you have a higher score before using tractatus. Spring and summer have available classes in teaching up to ability 10 (Marcus) or 12 (Gaston).

Lucio comes before the council "We have a young grog by the name of Patrice, I should specify that she currently serves as a serving girl, not in any military capacity, who has developed quite the ability with singing, and some reputation for it as well. I'm not certain what to do with this girl- she has just reached the age of 14 and singing isn't exactly a productive station at the covenant, nor does it seem appropriate to confine such a skilled artist to a role of perpetual menial servitude, and was hoping one of you might have some idea what to do with the girl besides possibly turning her out to make her own way as a bard of some sort."

Oli thinks she needs a patron of some sort... also, doesn't Aurthor have a magic flute of somesort?

Gloriana approaches the Council in Winter 1129 quite radiantly. "My good sodales, I have created an enchantment that sharpens the mind and increases the wit of those within its circle, something of great interest no doubt to our distinguished Covenant. As my pater Evandrus did many years before, to our great weal, I come to beseech the Praesidium underwrite the casting of this formidable ritual. I welcome all those you feel who need this potent enhancement, but caution all that it is magic that cannot help but leave its mark on any who participate (warping). This great work would need 6 pawns of Mentem or Creo vis for each instance, and I propose to do it twice. Does this meet with the approval of this august body?"

OOC- Gloriana would want to include Sybilla, Mother Rabbit and herself, would suggest Lady A (who would suggest Sandor as well), would look for Faerie-Blooded coven folk who could use this enhancement, as her Blatant Gift is no impediment with them, and she favors them.

as far as Patrice is concerned:
Andros would want her to get an "honest job". Does the girl know how to fight or craft?. He doesn't remember the bard Michele that fondly.

Danaë would like Patrice to accompany her in adventures, to see what she is made of. Perhaps she can become a spy, and train for such a role?

Gloriana is delighted at having a resident singer, she wholeheartedly approves of the Covenant sponsoring her. Does she have magical abilities?

OOC Also, Gloriana will schedule Hermagoras's LR for Winter 1131. He's an unpleasant sort, and she's Blatantly Gifted, so they should get along famously! :unamused: With no magic-aligned Supernatural ability, he will be warped at 2/year for a while, and the LR will be at ½ strength. This requires the expenditure of 10 Co/Cr vis, and as it stands will have a not insignificant projected ~110/2= 55, a -11 to LR. Does the Council approve of this? Who will take Byron's case?

Oliverius mumbles grumpily to himself (Probably doing math before speaking out his mind, like he tends to do) and finally offers his opinion. "I would find this more than an acceptable, and you have my vote. Considering how many of our council would likely want to benefit from the ritual, and risk the minor mark of magic, the actual cost of vis needed is near trivial, even here in the Roman Tribunal. That being said, I would be willing and pleased to take part myself; I would also like my apprentice, young Arduino, to partake as well. He is likely to be adding great benefit to our Covenant in the next decade, and our esteemed Sodales know the benefit of looking to the future."

OOC- Oliverius approves, would like to participate, and would like Arduino to participate. He approves of Lady A, disapproves mildly of Sandor but not enough to turn it down if there's room; He would also suggest favoring the younger covenfolk as much as he can't stand them; that would give greatest long-term benefit. "Though this is mitigated by our frequency of giving non-magi Longevity rituals. Really, it's more a calculated thought than an insistence of priority."

News of 1129
Roger II has gained victory in his conflict with the Pope, and now rules Sicily, Apulia and Calabria.
The Grand Tribunal has finished business with minor concessions, rulings and alterations made in inter-tribunal politics. Details and their impacts will be hashed out at the Roman Tribunal gathering summer of 1130.
Honorius officially established the order of the Knights Templar, which has been trying since 1119 to gain such recognition, after they were supported by the Council of Troyes.
In the holy Roman Empire Lothaire has taken the cities of Neuremberg and Speyer from Conrad by military force. There are rumors of a hedge tradition interfering in the succession within the Holy Roman Empire for unknown motives, though it seems the hedge traditio is strongest in the Roman tribunal and its influence has largely thus far succeeded in preventing any form of strong ecclesiatic support for either side.
