The council chamber

The plan at this point is to move Evandrus into the position, though he doesn't really have the single weapon skill he needs, but to train up his teaching before worrying about that, and the question had come up whether there should be two instructors (to Julliene, nobody has raised it with the magi)

Ok, what I can't quite figure out is why Evandrus, the Magus, didn't do anything? I mean, he spent the seasons crafting spells for this very occasion, has a Driving Goal or Ambition, can't quite remember which, to be the greatest Hermetic healer, ever, it costs less for him to cast the ritual because of his Mercurian Magic, and Gaston if nothing else was a valuable asset, much cheaper to save in the long run (4 Co or Creo vis, or combination thereof), and it's not like casting the ritual will make Evandrus miss his seasonal activity.

Also, that's the second time you have referred to an Evandrus, not the magus, silveroak, do you mean Erberto? Etienne the Grog Sergeant?

At the very least, going forward, the magi should be made aware of these crisis, and decide if they are going to avert them. Did Julien simply not inform the council on purpose?

What do the other players think?

Sorry, yes, Erberto
We haven't started 1112 yet, if one of the magi feels it was worth their time- I will mention any crisis in the future. A CrCo 25 is needed to survive, which means it would take 5 pawns of vis as well.

Sounds good, the specialists we have are pretty important! And this might also raise morale/loyalty.

Looking at the Magi, only Evandrus could have saved him, and he has spells to handle all crisis levels, and with Mercurian Magic saves at least 2 pawns (don't know if it's rounded up or down). Also, I will note that this a 1 hour and 15 minute ritual, so it's not a huge imposition on a Magus's time. Andros is Compassionate, he will urge the Council to use Co or Creo vis from the stocks, as will Danäe, who favors non-magi over magi, but in the end it's all up to Quite Possibly a Cat.

BTW, did we schedule the Circles of Stamina?

Lets assume that is late winter 1111/early spring 1112 (after Gaston's death/close call a lot of things will be adjusted to lower the risks and costs of death, and high stamina means surviving aging crisis more easily). Do we have the full list of participants for each casting? Also are you willing to take the times to do multiple attempts at the circle drawing to get a larger group if necessary?

Evandrus is certainly willing to cast a spell to stop the aging crisis. He'll cast "tricking the reaper". Anything that doesn't botch should be enough. Stress Die for Casting: 3 SAVE!

On the stamina circle. He wants to minimize the need for roles. Evan, and Anna will both join, I assume all magi and apprentices will. Let's add the cook lady in too. And the companions. Any other recommendations?

It was suggested that the turb be included to boost their ability to withstand damage in a fight.
By the cook lady do you mean DeAngelica, who has gone on multiple adventures with you, or Nicola, whose ability in the kitchen has greatly contributed to getting the +1 longevity modifier from food quality?

We can probably squeeze the shield Turb in and both DeAngelica and Nicola. Apparently the two women have blended together in Evan's mind. I think that's about the limit though. Magi, Apprentices, Companions, Shield Turb and two cooks. Realistically, risk wouldn't increase in discreet steps with circle size, but Evan thinks he can probably get that many people.

Julien should get in there, he's been hit with Decrepitude in the last few years.

Sigh... and Julien

for a standard circle limit of 23 people- 5 magi, 2 apprentices, 10 shield grogs - Ettienne wants to include one child who is training to be a shield grog as well, plus Gaston and Erberto, and Julliene, DeAngelica, Nicola- that's 23 exactly so its a tight fit but there are no concentration rolls required- just rolling the ritual 5 times, spending the vis and recording the warping (unless things go badly...)

Not everybody will go through the Ritual all 5 times, though: Danaë 2, Andros 4, Lady Agniezka 3, Camilla 4, from the characters I control. Obviously this can get complicated, but just to keep in mind.

I'm assuming this is number of times through the process:
Drago:3, Paco:2, Francesco:4, Gervassio:4, Adriana:4, Fausto:3, Bomaro:4, Raimondo:5, Jina:5(6), Viviane:5(7), Deangelica:4, Nicola:5(7), Gaston:5, Erberto:2, Juliene:5
I originally counted Vincenzio but he already has stamina 5

Alright then, resolving the circles of stamina!
With Evan's casting score he just needs to not botch. Two Potential Botches! Second and third spells for the record. At least we have Merc Magic. That means we roll seven botch dice for each possibility.
First Botch Check! No Botch! Woot!
Second Botch Check! ONE BOTCH! That's on the third spell for the record. Personally, I'm hoping we just lose a point of stamina instead of gaining one without anyone noticing. But ultimately its up to Silveroak.

For real? This is a 12th magnitude spell, -6 dice from Mercurian Magic, -x Clawball bond dice (didn't you say you were putting it all in Gold, -5, -4...)

Anyway, hopefully even if it's a 1 point botch, that isn't much, right, not even Twilight check? Exciting times ahead!

50's dramatic newscaster voice: "Is this the end of the line for the Praesidium? Stay tuned for the conclusion of our episode So you wanted to be tough... (cue music)

Even a one-point botch on a permanent ritual like this can be used to inflict permanent side-effects. Will Evan's sigil manifest strongly on us (speaking of which, what is his sigil?) Will we all be left with a permanent tan, or a craving for raw eggs, or another mild equivalent of a twilight scar?

Every woman in the circle becomes pregnant, and every man will impregnate a woman on his next sexual activity. All of the children have faerie blood, some may have strong faerie blood, of varying types. This also affects those with longevity potions.

are you going to do a 6th ritual to cover the failure of the 3rd?

Well that's awkward. I always assumed spell botches generally went unnoticed unless there was an obvious effect, so we won't know anything went wrong until a few months passed.

Regardless I think that's enough tempting the Random number god for one day.

That's great! Pretty apropos to Evandrus's latest efforts! Ahh, Camilla wanted to get pregnant with Fertility Cult knowledge, haha, not without it! And lady Agniezka! Fertile ground for stories (pun intended)! Hmm, don't think Andros is with anyone, and Danaë escapes the impregnation, as it was the third spell!

What will the rest of the Covenant think about those twisted Magi and their ceremonial orgies? And the priest is going to visit in Summer!

So will all the babies look like Evandrus? :smiling_imp:

Not really, but being babies I'm sure those with some knowledge and imagination will think they do.
