Caught a bit by surprise by Arnar's weather magic, Sionnach trudges along. If they brought any carts to carry their supplies, he tries to keep pace, hiding under them while trying not to get his tail trampled on. Regardless of whether or not he can hide under a cart or not, he will keep an eye out for any easy to carry unsecured objects he can stealthily snatch.
They do not have any carts, they are carrying what they need on their backs for the most parts, though one individual has a wooden spoon that he seems to use to summon items he needs and to dismiss them later.
"You would likely be the best to try and do that Bran. I could perhaps use my knowledge of the local area to try and find what would be their stopping place if they continue, and meet up with the others there? They shouldn't have too much trouble finding their way to me I imagine with their shapeshifting abilities"
(can i make an Area Lore roll to try and see if i can figure out a place that they might stop if they follow the road? )
It will have a higher than usual ease factor, but make the roll verses int+area lore+folk ken. We'll say ease factor 15.
(( Rolled 12, no Folk Ken hurt here. Spending Confidence would be enough to push me over, so i will for a total of 15. Going to wait for Bran before i post a full reply, just don't want to lose the total))
There is a English motte and Bailey in Carlow. While the English have claimed land further West, they have had trouble holding onto it. The Motte and Bailey overlook a river crossing which the road will inevitably take them to.
[I am not sure when Arnar catches up with the group, so please poke me when the pedestrians are done with their morning activities.
Did Arnar glean any more information from the NW bound group? Are they just a second instance of the same lot?]
They haven't done much besides walk for you to observe, clearly they have a different destination in mind.
Since Arnar is flying it will not take long for him to return to the group with his observations.
Arnar catches up with the group after an hour or two, moving the bag in case the fox requires human attire.
«You know what,» he says when he sees his sodales. «There is another English group heading NW from the city. Not sure if they are going to be more or less entertaining. Have you seen anything to excite us?»
Sionnach shakes his head as he contemplates the options before him. "I'm beginning to think we might be having some bad luck with this batch we've been following. I propose we change strategy and head towards that other group."
âDoes the other group have carts, donkeys, or any other method of carrying things such as laboratory equipment? Both these groups seem to be heading somewhere in particular so scouting out suitable locations doesnât seem their goal. Since this group only has whatâs on their back they might be going to Elkâs Run in Munster, I canât think of another covenant friendly to the English in this direction unless the decision of where was made long ago and they are having their lab equipment delivered there.â
[EDIT:] âBut I am fine with trying to catch the other group or trying to suss out more information from this one... if I can.â
«Bran, if you can find out something when they take a rest, I think you should,» says Arnar. «Even if we want to head for the other group, it is not going to delay us that much.» Arnar gives the detail he hasÂč.
Âč I assume you would have told me if the groups were different in such a way as to one having carts or otherwise being seriously more loaded.
"Well, I can't speak for the other group that you saw heading to the north west, but this group is likely headed to a small fortification down this road in Carlow. At least, that is the only place they could be going along this path. If we are going to try and do something with them, we would want to do it before they reach that."
"If they are indeed going to be stopping at a fortification in Carlow, I'm more inclined to pursue the other group. At the very least one of us should go to check if they are planning to meet up right away or if they are going to be picking up more supplies along the way. Perhaps they have more than one location they're considering which is best..."
"There is more land claimed by the English to the west, land they are having trouble holding onto, but this is the only thing along this path they could be headed to that I am aware of. The fortifications themselves overlook a river crossing, so they could simply be headed there on the way to something else, but once they get there, it will be much more difficult to intercept them"
«How far away is Carlow?» asks Arnar, «do you think they get there before they rest?»
Carlow is roughly 20 miles, or one day's travel, from where they camped last night- 30 miles from Wicklow.
"It is well within one days travel, so if we are going to do something with them, we would need to do so soon, or simply forget it and try to intercept the other group. I am not sure exactly where they might be heading though. "
«I can keep teasing them with more weather, but it does not look as if they are worth robbing,» says Arnar. «Bran, do you still want to go ahead with your sting?»
[Sorry for the delay. Thanks for waiting.]
"I think I could approach then merely by walking faster on the road and then pacing them as if I merely wish for traveling companions on a dangerous bit of road. If you, Arnar, would keep an eye from above for trouble I might get into that would be appreciated but hopefully a traveling bard will not elicit too much suspicion," Bran says.
[Assuming this sounds fine to the others.]
After the conversation Bran throws on his pack and heads down the road at a quick pace following when he catches up to the group he says, "Hello friends!" in Gaelic.
