Viktir and rune magic

Hi,

question is: does the runes accept the "spontaneous" casting? or must the vikti know all the spells he wants to cast (which is a little boring at NPC creation)?

Thanks for insights!

Nope. Vitki do not have sponts, only formulaics. And then they have to scribe them down, so they are way slower than hermetics at casting magic. However, learning spells is easier for them so they can accumulate spell levels rather fast.

Ok it seems i have good memories... well this is what i expected, so i have to prepare a vikti who is a true warrior one for a commando action.

I knew they are slower, but in a context of preparating an assault this is not a problem .

Can you explicit what you mean by "However, learning spells is easier for them so they can accumulate spell levels rather fast. "

(Serf's parma)

Vitki invent spells at (almost) the same speed that hermetics learn them from books. Their formula only includes one rune (instead of te+fo) but they can invent anything they need in a season, mostly, so they can amass fairly large numbers of "formulaics" if they have pushed up their runes a little bit. Since they do not need to search for the appropiate lab text, they can invent whatever spell they need if you give them time

A combat dude is rather easy to develop, and will have a large attack total with his weapon of choice.

Actually, they can cast just as fast, but they suffer a penalty for doing so.
The more important fact is that they can prepare before action, and their spells last....
