I think I read somewhere of a Bjornaer with a whale heartbeat, but I am struggling to recall where.
I came across an article in Wikipedia about Porphyrios (whale) and wondered if it could have a supernatural nature.
Eg infernal because it attacked Byzantium,
Magically a skin shifter or proto-Bjornaer
Faerie feeding off the Vitality of desperate sailors
I did an article of whale-related spells, general lore about whales and whaling in Mythic Europe, and stats for undead whales for the second issue of Peripheral Code. “The Book of Szabo.”
Don’t forget there are stats for a whale in the Provencal Tribunal book.
There is a mention of the creature Porphyrio in The Sundered Eagle (p93)
Magi of the Theban Tribunal believe it is a magical creature, and that it has a lair somewhere on the bottom of the sea, hidden inside a regio.
HoH:MC (p20) says that while there are rumours about Bjornaer with an elephant or whale heartbeast, none of those rumours have been confirmed.
There is a Bjornaer, Cara filia Sigurd, in the Sinews of Knowledge (Sanctuary of Ice, p70) whose heartbeast is a piest, which seems to be pretty much the same creature as the Loch Ness Monster. Regrettably, the character is not statted out, so we don't know the size of her heartbeast.
