(( My OOC assumption when I read what the drakes said was that it was the material form of some sort of elemental. It's eating their vis to avoid acclimation... that makes sense.))
The character's plan is to set them up somewhere near Andorra for a short time, until the military action in the Languedoc dies down and he can arrange for them to rejoin their relatives in Northern France.
The player is very certain that something will happen to interfere with that plan (they're a Flaw, after all). The player also thinks that it would be good for Gardaitis to have them hanging around, although he's not precisely certain why. Get back to me on that.
In any case, Gardaitis will retrieve the sled, ignore the babbling about the "Monster of God", and resume his trip down the path.
Unless you had something else planned, perhaps the invisible wolf saw him drop a tree on an ogre with a spell? That was the only obvious magic he did, I believe.
Awesome.
Arachné will go fetch him.
Oh. Edit. Let's say Arachné sees Vulcanus as he comes, and (not knowing he was warned, too)
Oh! Sodales?
If I may intrude on your time, I have need of your particular expertise, for something that might be of, shall we say, particular interest to you. Would you care to spare a moment for an old woman? You should really like this
thought as well But they're not mechanical: They're wooden constructions, animated by magic
Giants mechanical Spiders would have been great, as guards and all... But I don't think she can do it (Herbam also has that great lvl 10 guideline that doesn't exist for terram. Which is great, mind you). Yet, yes, I can set her on such a path, too, she's begun taking some steps on it! Great! Giant mechanical spider animated by a spell controled by a bound ghost, not unlike the Living Corpse
Celeste arrives at the scene where Gardaitis and his party are slowly retreating away from the monster eating the dead ogres. The cold wind howls, carrying the stench of death. The creature is horrid and fetid, a hulking brute with twisted horns and gnarled tusks. Man shaped, it is no man or ogre or giant she has ever seen or heard of. A twisted nightmare of deformed monstrosity.
Vocis asks everyone to hold up a minute and concentrates. Sodales, I think Celeste has located our target. ((describes location)) It appears to be feasting on the remains of...multiple ogres. There is a small band of travelers nearby in a copse of trees - one man and a few women and children. The brute seems to be ignoring them, at least for now. He turns to Maurice. Does this creature eat anything other than ogres? Men? Beasts?
Checking to see if Vocis recognizes Gardaitis as a Hermetic magus before casting spells that might be considered scrying...Int 2 + Order Lore 3 + roll of 5 = 10.
(( Me too. So, in the interests of moving the story along....))
The dumb-as-a-post mule tangled itself in the traces during its flight, and now is standing there in the middle of the road, trapped, rolling its eyes and snorting in terror. Gardaitis shakes his head in disgust as he approaches it."Sh. Easy. Stand still, you brainless animal. Easy, I said." When the only reaction to that is a wildly-aimed hoof that misses his forehead by a mile, he snarls under his breath and flings up a hand. "Rego Animal".
(("Soothe the Ferocious Bear", CT +9 +roll of 2=11. Spell cast.))
(Just checking for a botch...Per 2 + MT 6 + roll 8)
Vocis casts Relay the Vision of the Magus, then abruptly cancels it before projecting anything. The man leading the group of travelers is a Hermetic magus. While I don't recognize him, I feel we should render what assistance we can. I can get to his location quickly and distract the Brute if it chooses to pursue. He looks around, closes his eyes, and curses quietly. Staying in contact with you may be difficult, though. I normally convey messages through grogs or other mundanes, which is a resource we are sorely lacking. He is definitely not staring at Tiana.
Gardiatius has the most accurate information already (and the player accuratly guessed it's true nature). Vibria's roll was good though. Not as good, but not as outside her element.
It is a creature of local mythology, El Guolio, eater of the dead.
That and what you have been told already.
Oh good. I thought of a 3rd option for what it could possibly be, and the thought was horrifying enough I'm very glad that's NOT the case. Criamon Adulteration.
"At last. Shall we go help them? I've been aching for a good fight." Guillaume is genuinely smiling, but with the hissing way he says that the smile seems to indicate it might be one of you if he doesn't get a shot at this ogre.
(OOC - I don't believe Vocis's bond power will allow him to see what his familiar sees. Guillaume has the same bond power. It allows for very complex mental communication - thoughts and feelings, not just words. However, it doesn't do the Imaginem stuff; there's another bond power for that. Of course, his familiar could relay him a lot of the information mentally anyway.)
Marko, where the heck is Bone Hill? I was assuming, since Gardaitis came over the Port d'Envalira pass, that he'd be somewhere around here. If that's not the case, let me know.
Actually, scratch that. Just let me know how far it is to the nearest village.
