Is there any canon or semi-official information on the Witches of Benevento?
Not that I know. It might be something to earmark, if writing an ArMDE book about the Roman Tribunal.
Thanks for sharing the link. That does sound pretty cool. The latter part of the article sounds like fairly "generic" witchcraft but an ancient remnant of a syncretic cult of of Isis and Diana does sound like a good ex Misc tradition.
Don't forget it it is 3 goddesses - includes Hekate.
I specifically didn't bring her up because we already have a stated up cult of Hekate: thr Witches of Thessaly.
By that same logic, wouldn't Diana be denied to you because of the Cult of Diana, and Merinita?
The gods should be able to be shared.
Treating them ae nature lore merenita or witches of thessaly were in fact my first ideas.
Benevento is never mentioned in any Ars material. But the lore looks cool, something for a new Roman tribunal book (sorely needed)!
Cult of Isis is mentioned a few times in in 4e and 5e. City & Guild mentions it and have a story seed for it in Florens (which was a highspot for it until christianization in the early millenium).
The original Merinita was canonically the cult of Diana, and the original domus magna Fenistal (now lost) was a (or the?) temple of Diana.
Hekate is mentioned in passing in a handful of 5e books, most notably the Sundering Eagle ofc.
Spirit familiars in The Mysteries can have Isis and Hekate cords :).
They sound like they could be the sort of witch-cult many nightwalkers face?
