1221: One Thread Fits All

Attravere winces, at the 'Oh really?', then responds a bit defensively to Sophronia. "This 'first time it happened' was during the day. I'd no idea it was lycanthropy. Given the circumstances I'd thought our foe had cast a spell upon her."

Once Sophronia has spoken her piece, Attravere nods. "We're here to help, but we need to do this quickly. A connection, if you please?" Attravere holds out a hand.

  • You've got five Tremere grogs who are shapeshifted wolves. Of course there are lycanthropic Tremere.

Oh, I know. Need to know basis and all...

Sinmore's upper lip starts to tremble as Sophronia admonishes her. "B-but..." she starts to say as her eyes get misty. "I'm sorry...my humors are all out of alignment at this time o' the month. You're right...and ye did help me that one time, I'm very thankful." she snuffles a bit and pulls a knife and cuts a lock of her bright red hair (is it getting shaggier as she talks?) and hands it to Attravere. "Wh-what do you plan to do?" her eyebrows definitely look like they're becominmg a unibrow as she hands it over.

Wincing as she cuts off a whole lock. "A single hair would have been plenty." he'll say as he accepts it.

"We're going to figure out who can create the best ward, or possibly all place wards, and just try to keep you contained for the night."

He raises an eyebrow as he thought he saw something, but wasn't certain.

Then turning to Cygna and Sophronia in a business-like fashion, "I can cast Rego spells of a third, possibly fourth magnitude. My Animal is nothing to speak of."

"I can manage a 3rd magnitude Rego Animal or Corpus effect with some effort. 4th is a matter of a bit luck, or using ceremonial magic and less luck. According to first Principles of Magic Theory, warding a person is a 6th magnitude effect. When I discovered her nature, I took her to the church and had the Tremere soldates around to assist in containing her." Re 10+3 +An or Co 5 + Int 2 + Aura 5=25/2 or 12.5 +die roll, which on average should get her to 3rd magnitude. If it's a 1st magnitude animal ward, and we have 15 minutes, we could add another 1.5 for Artes Liberales and Philsophae +specialty to increase penetration slightly. ((Glancing at Attravere's sheet, he's got Sophronia beat, though.))

Edit:clarified the effect to be Rego Animal or Rego Corpus

[color=red]"Unfortunately, I can only sing about a second-magnitude Spontaneous Animal ward. Third if I'm lucky. However, I do have a couple of ways that we should be able to communicate with her after she's changed. The simplest is my ability to speak with animals, but I'm not very fluent. If she has a human mind when she's transformed, I have a spell that allows us to speak mentally. Unfortunately, it would nudge her a tiny bit toward Twilight. If worse comes to worst, I can...sing her a lullaby?" ((speaking of her Animal Ken; her Friendly Voices spell, which is Level 30 and has a +29 CT, including the +5 Aura; and her Enchanting Music ability respectively.))

Sinmore looks down at her hands which seemed to be getting a bit gnarled and stubby, with rather alarming looking fingernails.

"Ye best do something fast my friends or just flee! It's coming soon! I'll lower my Parma!" she says as her normally husky voices gets a harsh rasp to it.

((Lowering her Parma and natural resistance from Forms while she still can, once she changes though it might come back up, don't know))

[color=red]"Do you want me to cast Friendly Voices with you, so I can still talk to you after the change? Cygna asks.

((She's still willing to attempt an Animal ward, but doubts it will be very effective.))

She can lower her Parma but for a ward it won't matter-- her natural Form resistance will be up when she isn't actively suppressing it.

OTOH you can knock her out and she'll still be unconscious even after she changes.

Luckily, Sinmore only has a 0 Form Resistance against Animal, Herbam, and Terram ("So, what do you think? Club or rock?") and 3 Mentem. So if her Parma's down, and if she does have Int instead of Cunning in wereform, then Friendly Voices shouldn't be a problem, nor should the Ward.

((That will be interesting, I doubt any of the magi or most Grogs could knock her out even if she didn't resist. But a spell could do nicely and for now she is lowering all resistances))

Blow five sponts and you're out.

[color=red]"♫♪ Lullaby, and good night, may sweet dreams be your guide ♪♫ "

((Rego Mentem, base guideline is 4 to "Control a target's mental state (for example, awake, asleep, or confused", emphasis mine). +1 Touch, +2 for Sun duration, would be a target of 15. Int 4 + Re 5 + Mentem 18 + Aura 5 = 32 + stress die, ÷ 2, should be over a 15. And her Mentem penetration is 2, if needed.))

Of course, we should probably make sure that the were-gulon is laying down when Cygna does this...she might get a hernia trying to catch her before she hits the ground.

((Reminds me of that classic movie with Chevy Chase, The Funny Farm, where Chevy is trying to knock out a guy so they can pull a fishing hook out of his neck. "You're not knocking him out, you're just beating the piss out of him!"))

Sinmore sat on the floor as her bushy eyebrows got bushier by the moment but lowered as her eyes closed. The sleeping giantess slumps over onto the floor of her sanctum and begins snoring/growling.

((Fyi, there are chains and manacles here also))

Sophronia's CS for The Call to Slumber is Rego 10+3 Me 8 + Sta 1 + Mastery 1+Aura 5 =28+Die roll

Attravere gulps audibly, hands Sophronia and Cygna a bit of hair from the lock and begins drawing a circle to ward against animals around Sinmore. "I'll draw a circle with a bit of penetration and a bit in its strength."

(ReAn = Re18+An2+Int4+Aura5+Die / 2 or 29+Die /2)

He'll swallow again, audibly, once done.

"Can you... calm her? If she's hostile when she wakes? Might she hurt herself?" Attravere will ask, Cygna, clearly concerned.

((That's very similar to the spell that Cygna just cast...except Cygna's is Sun duration, so Sinmore won't be waking up until dawn, unless somebody casts Unraveling the Fabric of Mentem on her, I think.))

(Would it even matter with the duration of a cycle of sun about to end?)

[color=red]"The spell I cast will keep her asleep until sunrise, barring someone casting a spell on her to destroy the spell that I cast. I'm not sure my magic is powerful enough to keep her calm if she awakes...doesn't she normally have more of a temper than I do? But give me a moment to catch my breath, and I'll see what I can do."

((I'm honestly not sure if the base would be 5 ("Control a natural emotion...The target must feel the emotion before you can control it.") or 10 ("Control an unnatural emotion.") I'm thinking 5, because Sinmore seems pretty calm and docile right now, and Base 5 would keep her calm? Or would it be 4 again? If it's 5, her target would be 20, with the above CT...not impossible, but significantly more difficult.))

((I was trying to cast it so that it would take effect just at the beginning of a new cycle. There's supposedly that Diameter-long window where people's Parma goes down until they get it back up. She's trying to time it to take advantage of that window.))
