A tropaeum is a vis source owned in common by the Tribunal. It can only be collected by the Tribunal (if it is not awarded) or by a covenant who claims it as a result of the tournament. The lease is 7 years, the (standard) duration between Tribunals.
The Tribunal does have a good book on Terram, and is considered a Branch of the Arts: De Lapii, by Jeremias filius Guernicus L17Q14, which is a total of 31 bps, and rounds to 6 prize pawns. This is entirely a troupe decision, but it might make other things unavailable or be unavailable depending on where in the ranking it's placed. I assumed the list was ranked, because that is what I asked for.
It is a fabulous book, it wouldn't come to ME until 1228.2, or at least it wouldn't be available until then, someone would have to go to Confluensis to get it, but that's not a big deal, little vignette to act out, perhaps.
My only gripe about this was jebrick said speak now or accept the prizes back in February. To be blunt, the time to discuss it was then. The other question to ask yourself, Marko, is who else wants a Terram book, and how much utilization will it get over the next 28 seasons?
There are shortages of Vim, since no one is farming the aura...
There is a shortage of Animal.
And a book on Code of Hermes is a pretty good idea, from where the players have previously spoken.
Edit:you could always have Roberto visit the covenant who borrows the book for a few seasons, and we can work out the related issues of who has it and how much they'd charge separately.
Didn't notice it then. And I didn't realize we needed a Terram book until a few days ago. We could say the one locked in Viscara's trunk has been moved to the main stacks.
So just let it slide. No big deal.
We could say that, but we won't. That came from personal bps, and those should go where the character goes. Now, someone could trade with her. She's currently stuck in Lapis Crudus, so the trade would be on the onerous side...
I'm opening this back up...kind of.
Marcus has 17 prize pawns.
His first move is to spend 4 pawns and acquire 20 pawns of Vim (entrance fees). This pretty much cleans out all the Vim available from entrance fees, and again is a surprising, move, as Vis from entrance fees tends to get acquired later in the prize allocation.
He has 13 pawns remaining. If you want him to get something, talk with him.
Marcus has little interest in a Terram summa, but by the end of the first round it is still available, and he has a reasonable chance of acquiring it, but it will be a hard sell, and would require something good in exchange...
oy vey...
You are still not getting it, or maybe you are locked in the Tytalean mindset.
Roberto does not treat favors as currency or keep track of who owes what. Favors are just favors, the obligation is in the mind of the reciever. If someone does a favor for Roberto, then he will always have that obligation on his head until the favor is returned. Nothing needs ever be said, and indeed if it is said, then the sense of obligation is mitigated by resentment at having his honor questioned.
OOC, just so you know, my goal is to get Roberto's Arts score to be all at least 5 in time for the 1235 Tribunal. I have a plan on the drawing board. Several actually. It includes five seasons of Terram spell labwork to get that score up to 5, but really he only needs two or three of those spells. The other Arts are covered well enough by our library.
Well this entire discussion was OOC. If you, the player, want Marcus to get something, you, the player need to speak up. Marcus would extend the courtesy to the magi of Mons Electi. The offer was to everyone, not just Roberto. What I'm trying to do here is figure out how Marcus can help ME generally, he has a good position. He has no interest in a terram book, so unless he is asked, he wouldn't get it. In other words, someone needs to ask for something they want, there will be some kind of deal, regardless. Whether this counts as service to ME or what is something else to be discussed.
yer forcing me to act like a Tytalus
Very well. Roberto lets it be known, casually, that he wishes the covenant had a decent book on Terram. Not making a bargain, he just puts it out there.
Looking at my plans and alternative plans, the spot where I get bogged down is the five Terram spells. Only one is an absolute necessity, two are highly desired, but two are just extra desert toppings. Spending a season with a good Terram book will free up a single season for a different Lab Activity.
So it really isn't a big deal after all.
I'm not forcing anything, Marko. ~10 days ago, I asked the entire troupe if they wanted anything from Marcus, because of his position in the Tournament. You are the only one to comment, and therefore it is reasonable for me to believe that Roberto was the only one to ask. Marcus offered this to all the magi, whenever it was convenient. Unless any additional Magi (player) speak up, or Roberto wanted to offer Marcus a favor, he's not interested in getting the book and would do something else with his winnings.
So, if it's a casual interest and the rest of the troupe don't back it, Marcus isn't going to do it. This offer will expire about as soon as CR returns and starts running Marcus's story and I'm in a position to play it...
To be honest, I haven't been paying much attention to this thread, because I thought it was decided back in, like, January. But if Roberto wants to try to cut a deal with someone for a Terram summa, with or without the Council's support/blessing, go for it.
