1228-1229 OOC

1228.2 is baby time.

I need to write out the calculation. I realized that there should not be that much difference.

Sure...but if you try and keep her out of the lab or not let her do anything during that time she's going to make your life miserable.

Now that I'm not sending from my phone...

I put Abagail down for an entire season for baby time. Figuring in travel time, ect.

Now to the lab totals. i was trying to juggle them in my head so I'm sure there is a mistake. They should not be that far apart.
Alexei 1228.1
Cr27+Co19+MT8+Int2+aura5+Inventive Genius+3Abagail(int 3+MT6+IG+3)12 + Paion(Int2+MT4)+Lab+6 = 88 With experimentation 98

Stultus 1228.2
Cr27+Co19+MT8+Int2+aura5+Inventive Genius+3+Stultus8+ Rahere 8+ Lab+6= 86 With Experimenting 96

Check my formula. Both experiments rolls were separate. For Alexei Korvin IG 3+ Abagail IG 3 + simple die. Stultus: Kovin IG3 + simple die.

i should add. Alexei pays the vis cost for his. Korvin pays for Stultus.

That is Ra'am's problem. she is in Phoenix as requested in 1228.2.

Ra'am would make arrangements to minimize her travel time, so she is available.
You can't use Rahere, since he is Stultus's familiar. You can use your familiar for free, but another's familiar counts against the assistants total.

That's why I said he can only use Rahere if his Leadership is high enough.

Woohoo 98 on the LR!

K. So she is going to Phoenix; popping a baby out ( because these things are very predictable) and then coming back within 10 days? I know she is leaving the baby with her mother.

does Ra'am wait in ME until she goes into labor and then transport her? Or does she have her baby at ME then ship it off to Phoenix?

You can see I'm in a bit of a disagreement in the fact that she would could be useful in the lab and only miss 10 days on a matter of a birth.

At this point, because I still think it illogical that she would be there

So you want Korvin to experiment with your LR? Please sign the consent form and read the part about the risks involved

How soon after giving birth do mothers start caring for their babies? Is caring for a baby (even though they sleep a lot early on) more tiring than working? If you take the caring for a baby part out of the equation, the recovery period is pretty quick. I'm actually modelling Abigail on our daughter's birth mother. She was back at work in two days after giving birth. And her recovery was fine. She also compartmentalized and didn't treat our daughter as her daughter, except for holding her for a moment after giving birth, and when she was handed to my wife, she said, "here's your mommy."
So, you take caring for the baby out of the equation, attachment issues out of the equation, and 10 days is really easy to see, if transport can be reduced to that time or less. And I'm pretty sure a Corpus specialist could keep an eye on when a baby is about to pop.

I am not worried about the caring of the baby. The timing of the birth, so as to minimize the down time is what I can't believe. Could the Corpus specialist tell when the baby gets head down? Sure. When the baby is ready to come out? Not so sure. If you insist that Ra'am is a birth specialist that can tell when the humors get into balance for contractions to begin then I'll not argue.

I guess what I'm saying is that giving her 3 months off is unnecessary, as I can find all kinds of reasons that would enable her to keep working for her. Ra'am can arrange for transport, whether it is a portal, or Tria stops by and hangs out that summer, take your pick. So the transport time, in my opinion is not an issue. For portals, could cost be an issue? Well, what's the House willing to pay to ensure things go smoothly, since chances are decent that the child will be Gifted, being the product of two Gifted parents. So, I think cost isn't an issue. Then it comes down to timing of the birth. Magi take 1 day off a week, anyway (which is why you can miss 10 days in the lab), so if she takes two days to recover after birth, you could bookend the weeks, and not have any apparent downtime to make things up.

So, if you want to RP through all this stuff that she'd throw in your face, we can. If you want to drive her back to Phoenix for the summer of 1228, that's fine, too. Ra'am might expect something in return for having to teach her that season, though.

Fine

That seems like a mad fine, to be honest. Let me stipulate that you are the master, and what you say goes. She is headstrong and will fight you (and I think that's interesting) on this, because she thinks you are treating her too much like a child. I think we could do a better job of this in character. I have her voice, I just haven't had much of an excuse to use it. But she needs to be occupied by the season, somehow.

I'm a data person. The data I had was Abagail is going to Phoenix to have the baby. Korvin was against it but gave in to Tria's argument. what is not described is that Ra'am shows up and is doing measurements each day on her to determine when it be time to transport her so she can have the baby and return. For all of this, Abagail could have had the baby at ME and then Ra'am and his wife can leave to Phoenix from ME with the baby. That I can see much more easily because it takes the uncertainty of the birth out of the equation. The baby happens when it happens and she misses 2-3 days and then is back at work.

But the argument was that she needed to go to Phoenix to do this. So we get to hash out all the extra stuff.

Well, I don't think we had enough data shared between us.

Abigail would never have let the pregnancy impact Korvin's needs. Severe mourning sickness, she was there, working away. Water breaks? Finish up the day's activity. Give birth to the baby, hand her over to a wet nurse, and ask Korvin to see some grogs escort her and the baby to Phoenix. Abigail was designed two years ago, when I designed Ra'am. She's a highly compartmentalized individual, and really dislikes when the parts of her life overlap. This has nothing to do with Korvin, so for him to ship her off to Phoenix would be pretty insulting to her. So, that's why I was thinking this would be better done in character, we could have added additional data points in a much more dynamic and fun process.

Um.
Excuse me.
Anyone have a towel? The player has some egg he needs to wipe off his face.
HOW THE HELL DID I NOT SEE THIS????

<from a ways off stage, a quiet word is uttered>
Booyah.

Yes. consider this the yelling that occurs when Korvin tells her she is going to Phoenix. They both agree on what should happen and curse people intervening. I knew I should have had Tria in the room. Let Abagail chew on her rather than me.

care to elaborate, for the slowards among us?
