1228.2 I Know What You Did That Summer

Fiona nods. [color=blue]"That sounds fair enough. And if you wish to study more from the book, we could let one of my sodales study from something in your library at a like exchange? I will have to let you know when I will be able to come to (wherever they're from, I'm drawing a blank) to study the tractatus."

Poena is in Coeris, Maris is from Le Maison, which is not far from Brest.
"I would like to study the book this time next summer, Fiona. Is that enough notice, or do you require more?" Maris inquires.

[color=blue]"That should be plenty," Fiona replies. [color=blue]"I will let the Council know so that we can prepare. Will both of you coming, or just you, Maris?"

[color=blue]"That should be plenty," Fiona replies. [color=blue]"I will let the Council know so that we can prepare. Will both of you coming, or just you, Maris?"

"Just me." Make a folk ken check.

((Sorry it took so long to get back to this.))
Maris seems extremely eager to read the book, but it is possible that she isn't prepared for the possibility that it is written in a language other than Latin.

Fiona looks at Maris for a moment, then, with just a hint of a smirk, asks, [color=blue]"Με την ευκαιρία, το πόσο καλά μπορείτε να διαβάζω ελληνικά?" (By the way, how well you can read Greek?)

"What?" And then it dawns on her, "No, he didn't!" She keeps a calm face, "Two years, then. And for clarity, I'm assuming this is classical, not Romaic Greek?"

[color=blue]"He did. And you're correct, it is classical Greek."

Maris and Poena don't have much to say after the negotiations have been settled. Is there anything else Fiona wants to do here?

No, that's pretty much it for there, unless they want to do some catching up on the five or six years since she's seen them last ("So, how you been doing?")

As the final course is served, Maris finally ventures a question, "Have you heard from Ulrich, lately? My source for information on him has died up a bit." Maris can't help but get in a dig at Ra'am, too. "I do hope that Ra'am isn't overburdened with having two apprentices at one time. He's so young for such a responsibility. Yet another in a long line of errors on Tria's part, I suppose."

[color=blue]"I think I saw him here a couple of days ago, with Ra'am." She smiles. [color=blue]"I must say, he turned out a lot better-looking than I thought he would. Seems to be totally taken with someone, though."

[color=blue]"I know I have all I can handle with my one apprentice. She's my first, though. And I'm certain Tria wouldn't have sold Ulrich to Ra'am if she didn't think he was up to the task."

Maris offers, "You think of Tria as infallible?"

[color=blue]"No, no one's infallible. But I tend to give her the benefit of the doubt unless I have enough information not to. If it were anyone but a Bonisagus of the Bonisagus tradition, then I would think she was bloody daft for giving him a second apprentice. But I can only assume that she knows things about that situation that I don't, so I trust her judgement...for now."

Maris smirks. The smirk of someone who has bested a rival, and is able to talk about her behind her back a bit, "It appears you haven't heard the latest news about Tria. That she's been removed from her post as Tenens Occultorum for Rhein, Rome and The Greater Alps. Were I more informed, I'd call it scandalous." Of course her tone betrays that she's perfectly well informed, which she demonstrates by adding more details, "She apparently angered all the magi of House Bonisagus in those Tribunals that the Colentes Arcanorum had to intervene and request that the Primus remove her." She has a bit of a smile to her lips as she sips some wine.

[color=blue]"Interesting," Fiona says, then takes a sip of wine as she mulls this over.

[color=blue]"Are we certain that it was the magi of Bonisagus that she angered?"

"Oh, certainly. How else could you remove someone from a House Bonisagus post?" Maris smiles, and laughs a wicked laugh, but there's something more to this... Perception and an ability roll, Folk Ken is probably an EF of 9, but if Fiona can't figure it out, she might remember that Ra'am was asking about Tria when they spotted each other in line before the feuding Tytalus primii...

((Per 0 + Folk Ken (magi) 2 + die roll of 6 = 8. If this is worth spending a Confidence on to get a better clue as to why a friend of the covenant is getting the business, she will, giving her an 11.))
