1228.2 I Know What You Did That Summer

Probably not, maybe talking to Ra'am is a better idea? Especially since Gerulf seemed to clam up during his dinner with Ra'am... :-/

Mkay. She will inquire as to how Luna is doing at some point.

When she gets back to her chambers, she will pen a note and flag down a page to deliver it to Ra'am.

"Esteemed sodalis,

I would be honoured if you and your apprentices would join me for dinner tomorrow night, say, a half turn* after sundown. RSVP, and if this time does not fit your schedule, let me know when you would like to join me, as I am quite flexible.

Fiona filia Marós Ex Miscellanea Kore tes Kirkes

Once she's gotten the letter on her way, she will (barring anything else) make her way to the party, this time in her Petite Mascarade form, with Disguise of the New Visage, a brunette this time. And she will again create a Sun-duration dress (Base 3, +1 Touch, +2 Sun, for a Target level of 10; CT is Sta 3 + Cr 6 + He 10 + Aura 7 + die roll of 5 = 31, halved is 16: success. A couple of minutes after it's made and she puts it on, she changes it so that fits her form like a glove and is so sheer that it hides nothing from the naked eye. Base 3, R: Touch +1, D: Sun +2, for a target level of 10. Her CT is Sta 3 + Mu 17 + He 6 + Aura 7 + die roll of 8 = 41, halved is 20.

She then makes her way to the tent, chatting up anyone who catches her eye (or whose eye she catches, if they talk to her).

 • 1 turn = 1 hour, from a turn of the hourglass.

AS Fiona is getting her freak on she is suddenly curious as to why Maris, whom Tria called an exemplar of her Art would want to study from a book in that same Art...
When Fiona returns, there is a note wait for her from Ra'am, accepting her invitation.

((wait...what? Maris is an exemplar of Rego? I missed that...I thought that was Apollodorus. And I spent the last fifteen minutes doing searches on the thread, and I can't find anything saying Maris is an exemplar. :frowning: ))

Don't know if, as a delegate, she has a steward or chambermaid/cook or anything. If she does, she will have them set a table for five (her, Sheelagh, Ra'am, Ulrich, and Elizabeth) and cook a very good...wait, he's Jewish, she realizes. Um...does she know of any kosher cooks there that she can have bring some food?

Regardless, she will (hopefully) work something out, and will be ready for them when they arrive.

"Ra'am, I'm glad you could make it," she says as she leans down to give him a quick peck on the cheek. She gives the two apprentices a hug, with a whispered "Watch the hands, kid," to Ulrich as she hugs him.

She invites them to the table, waiting until they're seated before sitting herself. "I tried to find a kosher cook for the meal, I hope it meets with your approval." She waits for them to say grace before eating, and talking between bites.

After a little bit of small talk, inquiring as to Ulrich's studies, Ra'am's research, Elizabeth's studies, et cetera, she brings up the matter on her mind.

"I ran into Maris the other day. She tells me our Tria's...having problems?"

Ra'am enters and sits at the table. "When guesting with one not of our faith, I attempt to take the pressure off the host. Vegetable dishes not cooked with meat will be sufficient. Fruits and most breads are safe. But, I brought the wine, I hope you won't be offended. I can be sure that Phoenix wine has been prepared properly."
When Ra'am hears Maris's comment repeated from Fiona, "Do you have any magical protections that prevent sound from leaving this room? Can you manage it?"

"Not at all. I've heard wonderful things about the Phoenix wines."

Fiona thinks for a moment. "I won't be able to keep sound from leaving the room, but I can alter it into other noises." She immediately discards her first idea as to what kind of noises to make as being entirely inappropriate for a pious family man, and decides to change it to the clanking of dinnerware and glasses and unintelligible murmuring. ((MuIm, base 1 to change one sensation of an object, R: Touch +1, D: Sun +2, T: Room +2, for a target level of 10. Her CT is Sta 3 + Mu 17 + Im 5 + Aura 7 + (die roll of 1, followed by a die roll of 10, for a dice total of 20) = 52, halved is 26.))

"Even better." Ra'am nods in thanks, "Maris told you this, because she wants you to know it. It's about to become common knowledge that Tria will be removed from her post as Tenens. This is unheard of in the history of the Tenentes Occultorum. But the removal has been carefully orchestrated. She behaved the way she did, because it was part of her cover. Remember last winter when she was attacked and came to Mons Electi. Of course, she had other duties that she carried out while being the Tenens."

Fiona nods. "I wasn't there for it, but I heard she and some of my covenmates had an encounter with an old, dear friend of ours." Her hair starts to fly madly in every direction as she thinks of Valerian.

"What flimsy excuse have they given for her removal?"

"She purposely angered all the Bonisagi. They are united in her opposition to her. It isn't a flimsy excuse. I'm aware of the details only because several have interceded with me because of my relationship with her. Of course, she had warned me about this possibility."

"Interesting. Has she maneuvered her successor into position, or will she let her detractors have the upper hand?

"And do you know if she intends for us to be involved in whatever she has up her sleeves?"

"I'm unsure what she has planned. She might ask Tranquillina for help, but my best guess is that she doesn't seek out help, and I think Maris was telling you as a way of perhaps putting you in a position to offer help."

Fiona eats and chews slowly as she thinks. "Do you have any idea where I might reach her?" she finally asks. "I think it's well past time we caught up, had a little girl talk."

"I figure before too long she will be returning to Le Maison. And then she will, if I know her, begin repairing her image, as best she may."

"That's only a couple of weeks or so from Mons Electi. I'll write her when I get back and see if she wants to get together somewhere and chat, get..." Fiona looks like she's about to say something else, but catches herself. "Get caught up."

"Is Tranquillina the jealous type? Is she ambitious in your estimation?" Ra'am asks, changing the subject drastically. Did Fiona bring her neck brace?

Fiona thinks for a minute. "She may be a little insecure, in some ways, but not really jealous. And I haven't seen any signs of ambition...at least, no more than normal. Yes, she wants to be more than she is now, but she doesn't seem to aspire to leadership in her House, or positions of authority beyond what she has. Why?"

"Are you familiar with the Colentes Arcanorum?"

((Int 1 + Order of Hermes Lore 2 + die roll of 0 (botch check of 8) = 3.))

Fiona thinks for a minute, then shakes her head. "Can't say that I am, sorry."

"It's a group of five magi who have reached a certain rank, we review lab texts and work of other Bonisagi magi. Somehow, some way, I've been selected, though I haven't achieved the necessary rank. Murion is loathe to rescind my appointment, and is interested to see how this plays out. I offered up an alternative, and some of it depends on Tranquillina. I would ask her to stand in the Colens in my place. I think it's unlikely that anyone would object to this switch, or at least would not do so vociferously, since this kind of exchange has happened before. And when her time to be in the Colens comes around, I would stand in her place. Do you think she would be agreeable to something like this?"

"She might be. She does have plans, of that I'm sure, but I'm not sure how something like this would affect them. Would you like me to deliver a message for you?"
