(In a very pouty voice.) You think she is prettier than me? I knew you did. Now I'm just an object to be shown off to your magi girl friends.
Zoltan feigns shock and indignation at this and holds a hand to his chest. "No! I said that to show how clever you are Juriska, how you'd never fall for such a simple play of words. My friends want to see you, they want to see how pretty and powerful you are. After all, how can we invite you in to play when you'd like, if they can't see you? Remember my last home? How you could not fly past that big circle? We can invite you in and you won't have that, won't that be nice? Come Juriska, show yourself. My friends want to see you after all I've spoken about you."
Zoltan peers about him, an eerie glow in his eyes as he searches for the source of the childish voice.
((Using Second Sight, I can't make a roll, just trying to see where she is))
"I am not Zoltan's friend, and it has been a very long time since I was called a girl." Ophelia calls out snickering afterwards.
Indeed we've all only just met.
Zoltan can see her hiding in some nearby bushes. Anyone else with second sight can also see her
Only you would go to a place with all girls. Are all the servants girls as well?
Zoltan focuses in on Juriska and makes a subtle pointing gesture so that the others might see if she shows herself.
"Not all of the servants I'm sure, just some. But you're not afraid of girls are you? And my friends are women, they're not a threat to you. Come out Juriska, show yourself. I'll be living here, we'll be living here, come and meet the people that will be your neighbors."
No. I do not like be started at by strangers. They all know my name because you bandy it about.
Now she is sounding like an argumentative child.
She comes out from the bush but still invisible to all without second sight.
Zoltan shrugs. "Alright, have it your way, they believe I was tricking them anyway, that you don't exist. We have things to do, I was going to show them the stony goblin as well, but you're my favorite so I wanted to show you first. Then we have things to do. If you want to be invited in, you'll have to show yourself. So decide, show yourself or they'll just forget about you and assume I was playing a trick."
Juriska comes out and flies to Zoltan's shoulder then turns visible. She holds his ear in a tight grip as she glances around.
I think we should make sure we ask about the basics. Jurska you know what a sanctum is, and why they are important?
((Juriska is about the size of a toddler, with wispy hair, an ill fitting chemise for clothes, skin like a blueberry, but at her hands and feet they look much darker; the skin of frost bite. While her face also looks like a young girl, it seems like it's perpetually in a pout or angry expression. She looks like a very creepy Smurfette ))
"Ow...ow! Juriska that is too tight!" Zoltan squirms under her grasp but does not otherwise try to block or pry her off. "Uh...uh Eve, draw it for her please! The Sanctum marker!"
Eve scratches out the marker in the dirt using her staff.
Juriska looks at it for a bit. So? It does not look like anything.
((How cognizant is Juriska ?))
((The default is slightly cognizant, so she can learn basic things. I hinted at that in the little story that she starred in))
Zoltan winces while Juriska keeps twisting his ear and has a tuft of hair in her other hand as he points down at the marker in the dirt. "That is very important. When you see that, you are not to go in the door, nor through a window, nor through the chimney, under the walls or through them, or up through the floor. If that mark is on a door, you must not go in at all, except for my room. And we'll show you my room. Juriska, this is important. If you go into one of those rooms uninvited...you will be hurt, very badly. You, Juriska, can come into my room any way you'd like, just as before. But never into one of their rooms that are marked like that, unless they tell you it's OK that one time. You will know my chambers so there will be no mistake. Say it Juriska, say 'I will not go into any room, by any means, if it is marked with this mark, unless I am invited, and then for just that one time, except for Zoltan's room. I can go into Zoltan's room when I want to.' Say this Juriska, say it and make it a special promise.'"
After saying that he tries to delicately pry her grip off his hair and ear.
((Cognizance aside, trying to invoke a territory and ownership promise should hopefully do the trick and bind her to at least those restrictions))
Ophelia clears here throat. "What Zoltan is saying for your own safety. I know a spell that can strip the power from your... Ophelia is looking for the right word, "being. And you will be dust in the wind. It's not very strong. You can likely withstand the first spell. The second spell, probably not very well. I can cast two spells at a time, too. And I can achieve at least 4 or 5 magnitudes of power beyond the spell itself. And I almost never fail casting a spell. So what Zoltan is telling you is important. And even if he should give you an invitation to the Aegis, anyone of us can revoke it at any time, and you will be caught almost like a fly in amber."
I know similar spells as well. And if you enter my sanctum uninvited I will use them. Sancta, the rooms and buildings this symbol marks Eve gestures to the mark on the ground are protected areas. Entering into one uninvited would be a sign of an attack. Furthermore, I would recommend not straying into a sancta other than Zoltan's even if the owner invites you. They are never truly safe. Although ultimately that is not my decision to make.
Zoltan is grimacing now, perhaps from the grip and twisting that Juriska is performing on his hair and ears, possibly from the threats being made to her.
'You're just confusing and frightnening her!' Zoltan thinks but says nothing. It's better if Juriska is afraid of them, than risk going into their sanctum.
"Juriska, listen to them...do not go into those rooms with that mark. My room will have that mark also, but you know you can always go in my room. Make the promise Juriska, and then you'll be able to stay in and around this place."
Juriska seems to ponder this for a moment. Are the marks just for me?
Diotima enters the conversation
"No, Juriska, the marks are not just for you, they are for everyone, to warn that the place is off limit to everyone except the owner. Anyone else who enters it... well, basically forfeit their lives."
Juriska losses her grip in Zoltan and strokes his cheek. Could you make a mark just for me? Nothing special. Just something I know is only for me to keep out.
