((Sorry. this plot has gone well off my notes so it is taking a bit for me to think of what to do. Other than get you to Lycaneon.))
((Eh, if you want to get back "on track" so to speak, a detailed map, good directions and a good opening out of the Regio could get me their quite quickly. A little bit of "fluffy" stuff at the school shouldn't be too hard with the Against the Dark book. Feel free to ignore this suggestion of course.))
((Detailed maps do not exist at this time))
I am Andrew. I am a teacher and guardian for our school.
He leads Eve and Jane inside and guides them to a dining hall where food is brought out. He calls over an older woman to take the boys back to class. Andrew holds off talking until Eve has something to eat.
We are well off the beaten path as it were Where where you traveling from?
Heviz, the new Oppidum. Have you heard of it?
Andrew thinks for a moment. Not a new one there. You will have to stay here while I get some information. I shall arrange a room for you.
Alright then we'll be here. Well Jane probably wants more food, so if you could send for some more that would be great, otherwise I think she'll start raiding the kitchen or hunting rats.
Eve and Jane are given a room but are segregated from the students. Meals are served in her room. In the evenings, she can meet with Andrew or Simium, the Headmaster. There are three other teachers there but none of them are magi plus the caretaker Sebastain who is in charge of all the servants.
Andrew will show up after about a week. I've gotten word back about my inquires so I think we can let you go. You will have to wait until the regio opens but I guess it will not be long. Now trying to get to Lycaneon from here will be interesting. I must assume they you can not use Leap of Homecoming or Seven League Stride? Can you tell which direction is north easily?
I don't have a spell for it, but the whole east/west nature of the sun gives me a reasonable approximation. I could try spontaneous magic to pull it off, third of fourth level intellego terram... also before I go do you have anything that can speed the healing of wounds? Both Jane and I had a rough landing. I have no teleportation magic though.
((OOC: Arguably, "North" is a property of the Earth, can be determined by looking, and the Earth is a valid intellego target. (No size component.) So the base 2 guideline might work. And if it does, then a level 3 spell (or a level 2 spell with a taste target!) could get North.
[strike]Secondly, I know Weak Spont Magic says that stressful conditions require die rolls, but it bugs me when I compare it to chaotic magic. There both major flaws, but with chaotic magic I could avoid ever casting fatiguing spontaneous magic and effectively, have the same result, but no botch chance. I wasn't planning on everything being stressed all the time, when I took the flaw. JL, yes I know you told be so Not entirely sure whats a good solution though...[/strike]
JL explained it. ))
That would help. If you are going to fly over the lands I would recommend getting a spell that can track on a target on which you have an arcane connection. All of our oppida will make these available to other oppida.
I think you should talk to Simium about your flight. He has some experience and can give you landmarks to get you to Oradea perhaps. From there you might follow a road to the village of Zaläu. From there, I'm not sure. You may have to land and go by foot.
That would be a great help.
Until you get some better flight spells, consider traveling to Old Histria, taking the Portal to Harco then from Harco to Lycaneon. It will just cost you some vis but safer and faster.
((Handwaving the travel at this point to the Village of Zaläu. Eve will have to figure out how to get to Lycaneon from here. No one knows about it when she asks Taven keepers and such.))
((She doesn't have much vis, a pawn tops and it would be in her body, but handwaving it anyway I assume? Also Jane will switch into human form when going into a village. Better for interacting with mundanes that Eve. Probably. What does Eve otherwise know about the location and appearance?))
((We don't actually have the ability to speak any language but Latin and English! To the priest!))
Eve sighs Alright then, we should probably find someone who speaks latin.
Priests do that!
Good idea, they might have heard all sorts of stuff.
You do the talking obviously.
They head to the Church, and step inside if its open (I'm assuming it is, if its not just ignore this next bit.)
Eve will find a seat and begin silently praying to Ennoia for assistance. Jane (human form remember) looks for the priest and asks Is the Father here?
The priest speaks in very broken Latin.
Yes...He..Otac...given...vestments.
He gestures Jane to follow him.
Jane will follow while thinking to herself I thought, priests needed to know Latin for Mass. I wonder what happens when you screw up Divine stuff...
((sorry. Meant to do more with that but my week has not been pretty. The Priests would be very good at reading the mass. Not quite that good in conversation. Especially if they are small village priests.))
Jane is shown to a room and told to wait. Not long afterwards an older man comes in wearing the vestments of a priest. Father Petar told me that you which to see me my daughter. His Latin is flawless.
((I'm flaking out too, and I have no excuses. And yeah, Jane is silly. I'm trying to play her as naive to society. ))
Its a little embarrassing, we're trying to reach a mountain retreat. For scholars, experimental philosophers, really. But we don't actually know the location. It would probably bring up materials like sand, or glass. Fuel and food. Do you know the way? Or at least a general direction?
His eybrows go up and he pauses for a moment. He says something to the other priest who then leaves. then he turns to Jane.
Lost on your way to Lycaneon or Coeris?
He finds some parchment and a quill and writes out a short note.
There is a merchant house near the edge of town to the west. It is marked with red triangle in a circle. Go in and hand this to the head clerk. They will get you a guide.
Lost on the way to Lycaneon. And thank you Father you have been a great help.
Jane does a short bow, and takes the note.
((I'm not sure if you have more for the Church. If you do, this next part should probably be ignored.))
Jane will collect Eve, head out of the Church, give a few coins as a tithe, and explain the situation. Then they will head to the merchant House.
(( It is just one of those times when I need time to write and it is very limited. I wanted to do some more or give Eve a chance to do more but time is working against me. Just like a magus and their plans))
Eve goes to the merchant house ( Compania Pălărie Roșie) and sees a familiar symbol at the bottom of the sign of the upside down triangle in circle. She enters the warehose and is directed back to the office. There she sees a room with two young clerks ( she would guess apprentices of some sort) at desks working on ledgers and a desk set higher up with a balding older man with a grey hair around his temples.
One of the apprentices looks up and flinches slightly at Eve then calls to the older gentleman in Slavic. He looks up and appraises Even and Jane for a moment before speaking ( in Latin). How may I help you, Magus? The emphasis is on the title.
