Abe's Ideas

Pinnocio power!
base effect-you animate a SINGLE puppet for a SINGLE purpose!
duration-moon
target-indivigual
range touch
what do you fine people think?

I think automata already covers this.

There are a dozen or more ways to do "Pinnocio". Automata is only needed if you want it to have skills.

maybe, however this is a temporary automata, NOT a permanent one.

It's not even a temporary Automata, because it has no skills. But still very useful.

mouth burn
regocorpus(animal)15
you cause the target to feel as if you mouth is on fire(the target MUST have a mouth to be effected by this spell)
range(sight)
duration-sun
target-ind.

a variant of noah's tounge-insect tounge
basically you can communicate with insects!
mutointeligum(animal?)25
range sight/touch(depends on weither or not you can see the insects you wish to talk with)
duration-sun
target-group
what do you think?

future echos
the caster will receive RANDOM visions of the future, but only when moving( a carrage ride will do)
range-self or for 1 mangnitude higher journey
duration-movement(see spell description)
target-ind or for 1 magnitude higher touch
what do you fine people think?

Why only when moving?

Violates the Limit of Time

As does abe.

I was thinking of the tv show "red dwarf" at the time, that's why ( you would have to see the episode of the same name to get the point, sorry)

random act-regocorpus 25
makes the victim act in a RANDOM way, granted this is mostly used by fey, but could work
range-sight
duration-inst(works for 1 motion only)
target-ind

If the target acted in a random way, how could the caaster truly know that the spell did anything at all? Because one random effect could be to continue doing what he was doing before the spell was cast. Or maybe he intended to spit three times, stand on his hands and then sing a shanty?

not likely true, but possible to do the thing he intended as the spell cause the victim to act COMPLETLY randomly!

Magic can have random effects, but those are unintentional, a botch. You can cast a spell to compel someone to act, but unless it botches they will act aas the caster wants them to. In the end, the caster's intent will still be there and the act will not be random.

here's a better spell-lockmaster!(working title)
you instantly know how to pick that paticuler lock!
range-touch
duration-concntation
target-self(because your the target as well as the lock your touching)
nice spell huh?

Nope.

You can instantly open a lock with a Rego of the appropriate form.
You can instantly know the design of lock with Intellego of the appropriate form.

But knowing how to open it is about creating a knowledge, a competence. And it is beyond Hermetic capabilities, no matter how narrow.
If you have basic lock-picking skill and use an Intellego spell to know how the lock is designed, you can get a substantial bonus to your skill test.
Possibly, such understanding could even be used by somebody without skills, but instead relying on Intelligence and mechanism knowledge to infer how he could open the lock. Here again, the caster does not gain a knowledge, but if he is smart enough, he can use this information to try open the lock, even if he doesn't have the skill. It will be slower as he needs time to reflect and see how other skills can help him overcome the lock. It can be a strech, so better check with your troupe.

Also, if you allow one spell to get knowledge - even if only temporarly - on a object just by touching it, you will open the door to many, many abuse. Touch a sword to be a swordmaster, touch a house to be a master carpenter/mason, touch a cristal ball to be a master seer...

This runs into the distinction between information and Knowledge.
Intelligo deals (more or less exclusively) in Information, and so can tell you exactly what's inside a give lock.
Magic is no good at Knowledge however, so can't make you 'know how to pick a particular lock'. A bit subtle perhaps, but it's there.

For the rest of the answer, I'd like to refer you to Ezechiel 3:57, above.

What would happen if a person from our time came to a ars magica demention?
