Story
Phillipe is in charge of scouring the wild areas of southern Italy in search of vis. The group, crossing impervious areas, finally reaches a clearing with a large oak whose acorns may contain some vis. Only the golden fruit of the tree, however, are magical and are therefore enthusiastically collected by a minor noble who has taken refuge in a small fortress nearby after being driven from his lands. During the night Pazzino manages to bribe the guard at the entrance and thanks to Mercury and Ibis the group manages to reach unnoticed the chest containing the small treasure of the noble. But when they take possession of the vis, along with some golden leaves useful as resonance materials, the dawn took place and it is no longer possible to leave the fortress without being discovered. So they decide to get the exit by force. The small contingent of guards is easily defeated, not expecting an attack from within, and the group can safely return home.

Danaë accompanies Aurthor and his entourage, as they rush to Naples, to see what the fuss is all about. There they scout the area where the scholar apparently disappeared to. With some difficulty they discover it, several can see beyond! They pool their Magic Lore and manage to penetrate..and are immediately confronted by an extraordinary amount of poisonous snakes blocking their way, surrounding them! Danaë's mysterious companion whips up a powerful wind that keeps these vipers away, and they hie into the actual tomb. Second Sight, Magic Lore, Lord of Winds power success
As exploration of the Tomb begins, Aurthor speaks with some broken metal statues and gets some general impressions. They are unable to tarry, as some of the grogs are confronted with fully functioning constructs. Danaë whips up a potent Ward that keeps these at bay, despite the animates possessing Magic Resistance! But they are at an impasse. There are also signs of traps, and not knowing if the regio is easy to exit, they have to leave after just a couple of days, with some apparently minor things looted, appearing in the middle of a moonlit dell.

But there are guards watching! The group manages to evade them, following Danaë and some of the grogs' stealthy ways, losing them in the vicinity of the city. Once inside Naples, they start looking for information on the magician. While most people are mum on the subject, or declare that the magician has been killed, the skilled interrogation by the Praesidium locates the place Ludovicus, for that is his declared name, is being held. They manage to bribe some guards, and Danaë and Pazzino get to speak to the alleged wizard. Ludovicus is convinced he has been given this mission by order of Roger II; he came directly from the court at Sicily. Danaë is reminded of an adventure long ago with a similar theme, in Sicily, when someone alleged they had Roger's orders, but the monarch had ordered the Praesidium to investigate because he had not given those orders. Ludovicus, who believes they are agents of Roger II, demands loudly to be set free, do they not serve the same suzerain? The guards nearby hear this, and the rumor spreads like wildfire in the city! Danaë calms him down, and bargains for future favors in exchange for his freedom. The Praesidium contingent has to get out quickly to not be accused of mundane involvement, and the rulers of Naples, fearful of so many supernatural agents of Roger around, actually let Ludovicus go. But who is giving orders in Roger's name, does he have a doppleganger, is there a Shapeshifter involved? Stay tuned!

Story to come.

The Presidium troupe moves quickly, they go interrogate the peasant's family. The peasant's hut has been burned to the ground, to avoid inspection, apparently. It seems the man had some seedy "friends", and they had cultivated a certain level of familiarity with the Mercere emissary and spied his comings and goings, until they saw the opportunity. The purloined missive allegedly only contains obscure genealogical charts, mind-numbing correspondence between some Mercere scholars.
They then interrogate local hunters and guides, and get a feeling for the possible path the thief and his cronies have fled to. However in their haste for pursuit, Simian Rex conjures a veritable army of monkeys to comb the area, and this becomes a disaster, as they trample all over the place, provide much faulty information, and generally create a gigantic ruckus. They have lost the trail! Fortunately, one thing they do eventually obtain serves as a connection to the quarry, and Andros divines their general location: not so far! With more care, the group scouts ahead and stealthily approaches what appears to be an armed camp! Bandits! All sorts of desperate men, probably remnants of veteran commands scattered during the 10 year conflict. They observe for a while, but Andros is impatient to engage and "sort this lot out". Despite all sensible advice, he again strides into the camp [strike]recklessly[/strike] bravely. He is quickly surrounded, while a small group immediately flees, the peasant amongst them! While Andros laughs in delight and scatters the ragged defenders, Simian Rex and some of the others take the trail of the fleeing men. The thieves run at great speed through forest and dell, and reach a noble's demesne, one who has made trouble for the Praesidium in the past, allied with Sylvanian Covenant, and from whom Andros has actually [strike]stolen[/strike] confiscated vis and other interesting contraband! And there's a sizable armed contingent present! Time for other tactics: Sandor and his mother introduce themselves and ask for audience. A tense back-and -forth ensues, the Knight of Siderno making veiled threats, his mother such a paragon of manners and putting others at ease that the routine vexes this minor prince greatly, and stymies his attempts at simply having them escorted out. In her quiet, unassuming tone, Lady A indicates that the purloined object was secretly a trap set for someone else by Roger II, and that this confusion by the Prince's unwitting servants surely need not be reported back to the King of Sicily, as long as the letter is returned, intact, at once. A token amount of Mythic Silver is offered as recompense for the prince's aid. The prince is very much intimidated by this, and agrees to this plan, with much anger but some obsequiousness, and has his men deliver the letter, along with the peasant's corpse. hmm, it was meant to be aligned to the Magic Realm. I thought it was in Hedge Magic, but I only found it in Faith & Flame, as a minor Virtue, Folk Witch Ceremony, but there they also refer it to as "Feminine Ceremony", refer to Chapter 3, and I couldn't find it there. But "The Guide" character has it in Major Virtue form. Shrug. Up to silveroak if Ceremony of the Magic flavoring exists in the Saga, as both Major and Minor Virtues, and if it works similarly to Faerie/Infernal/Ceremony.

There is no magical version of ceremony at this time- it might be possible as a breakthrough though. It is a supernatural ability and while the ability must be realm linked, an instruction book does not, so the book can be used for any of the three versions. If it is learned by a Gifted individual one of the other 3 realms would need to be chosen, at least before any sort of breakthrough...

While I applaud the recruiting of agents, recruiting Ludowicus will be interfering in immutable history for the prelude. If the point is to gain him as a teacher rather than an agent this can be accomplished, if you are looking for a actual agent then we should pick a less established character.
