.... And Ravens

[color=blue]"Ghosts are not as easy to control and not everyone can manage third magnitude mentem spells. If you said terram, I could do that easily, but mentem is not my specialty. The living can have many more options to them." Katja is annoyed, more than a little. [color=blue]"I would say that most wizards of the order can not manage that unless they worked hard at that type of particular spell or specialty."

[color=red]I said Corpus. Intellego Corpus. I thought you all knew the spell, seen it cast enough times. You only recently passed your gauntlet I presume?
Anyway, the rule is to worry about safety and security first, prisoners are a luxury. Anyway, you have one. Maybe you can flog him or roast him on some coals and interrogate him. But anyway, your reaction, it was like a scared panicked child. You do need training. Put your hands up, let me see your basic stance...

During this time the live bandit has managed to fall upon his dagger and is now an Ex Bandit

[color=red]See? Now you gotta call up his ghost anyway. Regulus, you are a skilled Corpus magus, are you not?

[color=blue]"I don't think so. This is not a military command that you get to give orders. Prisoners are easily taken when you can drop them in pits. While I have practiced some corpus, it was not one of my priority. Terram is my specialty." There is a reason though that Regius was with her. Regius would know that Kasia has less than zero ability in combat. On the other hand, she has insured four stone walls every night for rest and warmth of a heated hall during this trip as well moving about 7 tons of rock in sled form.

The arguing of the two begins to rattle the man's ire. He stops and after a few deep breaths stalks over to the pit. He unceremoniously retrieves the corpse having seemingly no respect for the dead. Once done, he'll try to summon the soul of the corpse.

(Intellego 5 + sta 4 + Corpus 8 for casting total, /2 with fatigue)
(I don't have my book on me so I'm just going to go for r: touch, dur: concentration).

((Base 5, +1 touch, +1 conc for level 15, your casting total is 17 + stress/2 so you need 13+ on the stress die. Exaggerated gestures and booming voice gives +2 and drops it to needing 11+ on stress die, my 18 years out of apprenticehisp Andorra corpus specialist can barely spont this spell))

And he can spend Confidence, thus needing an 8+ on a stress die.

(Roll of invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/1972047/ )

Wow!
It appears that he rolled a 9, so spending a point of confidence, he can cast the spell successfully.
Interrogate away!

The spell succeeds and you are able to communicate with the spirit of the bandit .

(Regius will of course repeat the questions the group has so feel free to ask for yourselves)

Maintaining his spell causes the area around him to feel dense and heavy as he speaks to the spirit and at the least asks the following questions:

-Who are you?
-How many were you that attacked us?
-Describe the others.
-Where is their hideout and what kind of defenses do they have there?

If the spirit proves difficult, he threatens to cook the corpse and let it get eaten by whatever animals are drawn by the smell. To add further weight to his threat, he will ask Ricardo to go get some kindling.

The bandit's spirit does not seem overly impressed by the crudely delivered threats of Regius . (Penalties from poor stats and lack of skill, small bonus for nice threat). However despite being unimpressed by his interogator he does reveal some information. It seems that he dislike's his employer and suspects him of being an evil warlock , the man visits them at their base on the coast and is most unnatural as his shadow does not seem to corespond to the local light. He is probably at their camp on the coast now and if you hurry you may be able to catch him and then hopefully you will kill each other .

[color=red]Ask him who his employer is. Ask him why they tried to kill us, and what is the nature of the disagreement he has with his employer

Ricardo is gathering firewood :smiling_imp:

(assuming he does not answer the above, we'll try to get the directions to the camp and head out to exact some vengeance/loot whatever they had at their camp.)

His employer is some warlock like you, he and his frends were sent out to ambush people using this trail . He hates his employer because he thinks he has been bewitched into working for him and since starting to work for him over a dozen of his freinds have been killed in assorted violent ways.

Getting directions to the camp is easy and in any case Regius is able to follow the trail. The trail passes through a fair amount of woodland and so progress is not rapid after about an hour and a half of travelling it looks like you are about an hour from whee you think the camp is and the sun will be setting in about half an hour

[color=red]"Perhaps I am a worrier but do we really want to go as just a threesome to attack a bandit camp of an unknown number. They supposedly have a mage which means you will be busy fighting your way to him while he uses magic against you, indirectly if not directly. I am not trained for battle and I hate fighting. Perhaps we should continue to Ad Fons with the information and gather a true war party."" Katja is indeed cautious and thinking ahead, namely she has no inclination or skill at fighting even if she can perhaps slam people with her 7 ton sled.

[color=red]Not a threesome. Just the two of us. You will be a liability... Ricardo says with a grim, stoic aditude.

[color=red]"And exactly what are you expecting to do with me then?" Regius had pledged to help protect her until arrival at Ad Fons and so she is going to be left alone in the wilderness with the two that can fight go running off to attack a wizard that also had some number of grogs to protect him.

Admittedly her ability to create walls to block sight was limited and pits could be two edged sword, it was better than her being alone with no defenses and possibly needing to sleep.

He scratches his head in thought. "We wait until dark. That way they can't find you easily."
