Chapter 2g - Spring 1228 - In Search of a Second Singer

Antonio smiles expansively at the innkeeper.

"Rizardo! It's great to be back! Do you still serve that ale?"

The innkeeper's demeanor doesn't noticably soften. "Don't you try to sweet talk me, you tuneless warbler. We had a deal for you to play through the winter, and you just up and left the moment it took your fancy. If you think you can just wander back in now, you've got another think coming."

He glares at the grogs. "That goes for you too, you bunch of thieving reprobates. Don't think just because it took me a few moments to cotton on to who you were that means you're welcome here."

Ooc: had the brothers paid for the rooms or just arranged them? It'll change how they behave here.

The brothers have paid for rooms for the night (but not for food or drink).

Godzimir will walk forward a little with hands raised in surrender-ish pose, while Bogdan ushers the unwanted singer back out the door. Bogdan will stay just inside to view Godzimir if he can.
Godzimir says "I'm sorry if he or we got the wrong idea. You yourself welcomed me and took our money for a room. We will go elsewhere, and you'll refund us the money paid friend." It's a statement, said in a friendly voice. "Then all is good, no trouble, and no hard feelings. "

The Innkeeper glares at them. Godzimir sees his eyes linger on his sword a moment.

"Pfah, here, take it." He throws Godzimir some coins. "But with all the custom you've lost me, I'd be well within my rights to keep every penny! Now, be off with you."

"Thank you." As he turns and walks to the door, "thrown from the best inn in the town." Ushers the other out, "well best rats and lice. Let's find another"

Viola acts annoyed, mostly at the wayward bard. Taking the grogs aside, she suggests they find an inn where no one knows their new "friend".

Interesting development, though it still leaves unanswered the question of what he seemed to sing so well when they first met him.

No way Godzimir will show it to a frustrated wizard but he's happy to recover the coins. His brother has started setting off to find other accommodations.
With the group wandering the road, they'll stop a few folk to ask for options. One of the brothers will keep a pace or so back with the Magus while whomever asks.

[ooc: do you want some sort of Ken roll or assume we find another inn?]

The main inn is the only one in the town. However, the grogs and Antonio can find a household willing to put them up (with some questions on why they're not just staying at the inn). Viola will make that more difficult, but she can probably disassociate herself enough from the grogs to stay at the inn.

I guess this is waiting on me...So Viola directs that we find an alternative accommodation.

Scott

Okay.

Does anyone want to do anything further whilst you're in Tana, or shall we skip to arriving in Chersonesus?

Skip forward.

Works for me.

Investigation reveals that the ship in the harbour is due to take a cargo of furs to Constantinople, but as Chersonesus is largely en-route the grogs are able to persuade the captain to give you passage there.

Arriving in the city, you disembark and ask after the location of the local inn, and make your way there. Around half way there, you have to pause for a small funeral procession.

[Everyone make a couple of Per + Awareness rolls and Per + Folk Ken rolls.]

Is this stress or simple?

Scott

[OOC: Rolls 8, 3, 7, 7
Bogdan: Per 0, Awareness 3 + 8 = 11, then Per 0, Folk Ken 1 + 3 = 4,
Godzimir: Per 1, Awareness 3 + 7 = 11, then Per 1, Folk Ken 2 + 7 = 10, ]

[Simple]

As they disembark from the ship, both Bogdan and Godzimir notice Antonio hanging back to speak to the captain, although he follows the group off soon enough.

The funeral procession is a fairly small affair; four people escorting a horse driven wagon draped in black. A little surprisingly, there doesn't seem to be a priest in attendance. The four mourners bear solemn, sorrowful expressions, although Godzimir is pretty sure at least one of them is faking it.

Arriving at the inn, you can acquire rooms and food with relatively little difficulty.

Viola belatedly rolls Per 2 + Awareness 1 + simple die 2 = 5, and Per 2 + Folk Ken 1 + simple die 2 = 5 again, so nothing the grogs didn't spot.

She would however really like the grogs to see if they figure out what was going on between Antonio and the captain.

As for the funeral procession, I don't suppose Second Sight reveals anything? It seems a little fae. She'll dispatch Constantine to follow it discreetly.
