That depends... what spells? Please give an exact spell so that we avoid confusion.
Sorry. Krispin uses Probe the Secrets of the Flesh in the same manner he did in the investigation of the silversmith, trying to detect changes in the body associated with different words that might tell if she’s lying, nervous, or something in between. Her heart rate, the state of her humors, that sort of thing. This method may be somewhat unreliable because she’s injured... I dunno.
I presume Heinrich is using Sight of the Transparent Motive and Frosty Breath of the Spoken Lie, but he hasn’t weighed in yet, so I don’t actually know.
Yannick --if he is already back from his watchtower tree-- will stay outside the interrogation room. He expects some of Hedwigs allies soon enough.
Yannick will pace back and forth on the covenant grounds in the shape of a giant Rottweiler with a bears fortitude, along with the covenants dogs of outlandish size. He'll be talking with birds in order to know if there is anything unusual in the area round the covenant.
The dogs shall report if any of the people on the covenant grounds smell different from ther usual scent (yannick expects Mutoed people...).
Yannick will cast "impenetrabel doublet" on the guards as well, just in case, and tell 'em we have a prisoner and that he expects trouble.
I’ll assume that from now on the frost breath is cast and active. It would be unreasonable that it where not cast if there where an interrogation of an important prisoner. Though I wish not to go back and revise the story. We can just assume the Henrich where a little late with casting his spell.
[color=red]My hand where forced by a Albrecht’s hand he forced me to do these things to you and your minions. I truly regret what I have done but he promised me membership in the Order and that I would not be hunted on sight anymore as hermetic magi do with those outside. Hedwig’s breath billows out of her mouth as she speaks. At first she did not realise what effect the spell has. She falls into silence and holds a hand at her wounds.
Probe the secrets of the flesh reveals that her wounds are improving significantly though not completely healing.
[color=red]I am not renowned for my patience. The Truth . Now or I go back to the plan of killing you and using necromancy to get my answers. Decide Now
[color=blue]As far as Heinrich (or Justus') immediate assistantance or support, I'm presuming that this timeline is still currently several hours or a few days into our trip to Durenmar?
[color=blue]Yes that is right…
Neither Justus or Henrich is there as they are in Durenmar. We need to revise the story. Now skip the information about the frosty breath but the significant and sudden improvement of Hedwig’s injuries is quite noticeable.
[color=red]What is it that you wished to know! Hedwig cries out. [color=red]I have stolen from you and you have taken back the tomes. You will slay me anyway! Hedwig turns her head down and cries.
[color=red]If you lie? Sure.
If you tell the truth, at least, you have a chance.
What do you choose?
[color=red]I have been raiding covenants for resources and I was an apprentice of Albrecht, I never finished my gauntlet in my master’s house as I was cast out and now you have me caught. What else could you wish to know? Hedwig still does not look at the magi though no smoke emits from her.
[color=red]I await a justification for your actions. That and I wish to determine if you had any colleagues in your crimes. Piteous whining is not going to help you.
[color=red]I worked alone when I raided your covenant. Hedwig looks up and stares at Mariella, her eyes red of tears.
Krispin struggles to keep his face as impassive as possible, but he has to turn away occasionally and get himself under control, wiping his eye and breathing quietly but deeply. [color=red] What justification did you have for murder? Raiding is not the only way to acquire knowledge, nor the most profitable. You could have thrown yourself on the mercy of this or some other tribunal. Magi are valuable, and a kinder parens would surely have volunteered to finish your training.
Even then, raiding does not require killing. So why did you do it? Did you enjoy it? Benefit from it? What other reason could you have for such callous disregard of human life?
Hedwig looses her temper and suddenly her crying stop.[color=red] I hate the Order of Hermes and wish that it should be wiped out from the face of the earth. If that requires a few death then so be it. I’ve tried to turn the population of the Pomeranian against you and to use your own weapon against your self. My hate got me careless and that is why we are here today. Go ahead and make your worst.
[color=red]May god have mercy on your Soul. For I have none
Evisceration of the thousand blades
Mariella then draws her stilleto and moves to finish Hedwig
(I think Krispin may object though.....)
Krispin is too shocked or too slow – perhaps both – to interfere with Mariella’s spell, but jumps up as soon as he sees her knife come out, throwing himself between her and the unconscious Hedwig.
[color=red] Stop! I will not let you kill her in cold blood. At best, it may be possible to redeem her. At worst, she may still have valuable information that we should acquire before... before she dies.
[color=red]"We do not have the resources to extract the truth from her. She lies schemes and plots with every word and is a mass murderer of innocents. Krispin I respect that you are a man of peace, this women is more like me. Only death will stop her and anyway I intend to merely put her out of her misery the spell unfortunatly does not kill directly merely inflicts massive pain , damage and sufferreing. Killing her now ends that.
[color=red]Pain and suffering which you caused. Death is not an acceptable solution for ending pain when another is available. The ability to get the truth from people is relatively easy to acquire – we have a copy of Posing the Silent Question in our library that I could learn in a season. If nothing else we can turn her over to House Guernicus for questioning and proper judgment.
You are not judge and executioner both, not on this matter. Killing her is not only wrong, it’s supremely unwise. She has far too much useful information yet.
Ardath does intervenes too.
[color=red]This is strange, I'm ill at ease with what she said. Anyway, she deserves our justice, not yours only.
[color=red]Yes.
But we have a quaesitor to call upon.
Better yet, we might be able to extract valuable information fom her on other covenants, the country, and maybe even her parens. Given enough time, we will. Krispin is utterly right on this
color=blue falls, great magus think alike
)
[color=red]Ah the Quasitor , I suspect that he wishes to saty out of this affair his conduct has not been impressive. We cannot aquire information from her on covenants or magi , that would open us to accusations of spying certainly if we use magic to extract those answers.
Nothing she says can be trusted or used . She is nothing but a creature of lies .
She has been destroyed from within, she resents the world, she hates if for having that she cannot have. She tries to fill the void of her soul where envy and spite have destroyed it by Greed and seeking power. There is nothing to save and her crimes have put her beyond the pale.
I pity her, If it had not been for my Brother and my Parens I could have ended like her. To put and end to it is a mercy , to keep her alive, question her and torment her with a chance to continue her miserable life is a torture I would not put another through.
Finally my oaths bind me to kill her
I have sworn to uphold the code , she is a renegade that condemns her.
I have sworn to keep my word , I swore to kill the murderer of those women and hildren.
I have sworn to give my prisoners due mercy and killing her ends her sufferring.
My decision is not made lightly , and I will not be easily dissuaded .
[color=blue]Necromancy is better for gettign answers anyway
