Chapter 8 - Drake Hunting

Me, falls and xalbator. I was confused in all these posts, I'll edit to suppress this.

Falls is xalbator (Inigo Elezar, aka Xalbador).
I have net at home. I will throw things at you latter

Hi,

It is obvious that spellcasting is going on; does the drake realize that some of it is at him?

Anyway,

Ken

Hi,

Whatever the drake was about to do, he doesn't do it.

Instead, he pauses to look at Valentino. Taking in the sleepy ogre, he says to Valentino, "That was impressive. It looks like you don't need my help with these ogres after all."

Anyway,

Ken

Hmmmm,
Does this drake have Magic Lore? I think he may. SD + Per + Magic Lore, ease factor is only 6.
I trust your dice

So, we have a sleeping uninjured ogre, an ogre down with a heavy wound and an arrow in his kidney, and a third with a light wound from fire.

This third one, he is just going to pick up his cudgle and try to smash the drake on the head.

(you are using Maurice I take it? Initiative is yours)

Hi,

The drake fails his Magic Lore roll, does not botch.

But he does very nicely on another roll. With surprising grace, the drake leaps into the air, pushing himself backward and out of the ogre's reach, to land atop the outcropping from which he came.

He is mostly obscured by rock, and from here can easily breathe fire or disengage out of sight if he chooses, next round. But anyone experienced with drakes would notice that it doesn't look like he wants to disengage.

Anyway,

Ken

Yeah.
You guys notice that this guy is pretty good at flapping his wings
Ken sent me his rolls PM. Ken, you should post your rolls here so we all can see

ML total 5
Athletics total 17

Yeah, Magic Lore roll is too low (unless you spend confidence). You can tell that the guy is either casting a spell or activating a power (his own or that of an item?), but you cannot tell what it is and who it is directed at (obviously it was the ogre though, because he suddenly fell asleep). You don't know exactly what happened, just one guy chanted something, waved his fingers, and an ogre passed out.

Ezio, upon hearing the drakes words, and having heard from Kallista that the goal is to befriend a drake, will take a shot at the ogre going after the drake. Hopefully he can get it before it gets to the drake. 0(stress, 2 on the first botch die)+24=24 attack. Damage is +11. [OOC - Wow, I'm rolling lots of 0's. Mark, do you need more botch dice than that on the bow attack?]

Valentino, upon hearing the drake, replies [color=red]"Thank you for your assistance. We have someone here who is interested in meeting you. We have been escorting her... Kallista, care to introduce yourself?" Valentino figures her angle is social, so let's do this socially.

[color=indigo]"To this quiet man I shall swear an oath, that no simple knife will cut his clothes!" He says repeating the little dance he did around Kallista, before touching Eizo's outfit to harden it.

It will last 5 days!!

Okay, Lefty is the one passed out. Righty has mild burn damage, lunges at Maurice the Drake, Maurice flies up and back away from him. Ezio takes a shot at him (one botch die is all you are required for this). Attack total 24. The Ogre has a Defense of +8 while weilding a cudgle, and he rolls a 9; Defense Total +17. So that is an attack advantage of 7, plus 11, for a total Damage of +18. This ogre has a Soak of +9, so that is a total of 9 points of damage inflicted. Medium Wound! Punctured Muscle Group, you get him right through the bicep, he squirts blood and drops his cudgle.

He tries to make a break for it.
Initiative: Next in order, or back to the top?

"Looking for me? Me personally? Me as in me? Whatever for?"

Txatxu watches as his team fights alongside... a Drake? He's confused at first, but then, the drake did speak to them, and is clearly intelligent. Hmmm perhaps Kallista has found her familiar! This cheers him up, and he starts rooting for the drake inside his head, although he remains physically somewhat removed from the whole thing...

(Damn you guys are fast...)

Valentino replies [color=red]"Perhaps you specifically; I am not sure. It is best if I let her explain. Kallista?"

Valentino eyes the ogre running away. He and Graziella will give chase.

[OOC - We need to give Kallista time to get back online.]

When it comes back around to Ezio, he will take one more shot at the fleeing ogre.

 Happens when people get excited.
But the very next action is yours if you want it
There is still a free ogre making a run for it...

Hi,

I don't see how an ogre body, which was never part of the drake, can act as even a temporary AC to him.

YMMV.

Anyway,

Ken

An injury is an AC to the animal or person that created the wound  Arm117 Image of the Beast Intellego Animal. It's lifetime is the lowest of an AC, a few hours.

Kallista will maneuver to one of the Smoldering Ogre's. If things go badly it is is important to have an arcane connection after all.

She will speak directly to the drake in hopes it breaks the enchantment.

[color=red]"Child Prometheus, bearer of fire, son of the torch undying. That I would meet you is a joy. I am Kallista, daughter of Pegaiai of water clear an pure. You are what I am not, I am that which you lack. I've written a song if you will but enjoy to show my appreciation. If not then it was a pleasure to witness your glory."

Kallista will watch the Drake to see if he is interested in the song. If no immediate balk, she will begin to sing her 'Ode to Dragon Kin'. This was written as a Charm, she has spent a little time over the 3 hours to make it pleasurable. A real work of art for a song takes half a season to perfect. The quality of the original writing is a 23, so their are some good ideas, but it still needs some refinement to be considered a great work of art.

Kallista will sing her ode, praising dragon kind and their plight in autumn.
... will post rolls for music ... if he wants to hear it.

Hi,

Wow. Ok. I didn't realize that ACs were so easy to come by. The PCs might rue this someday. Even so, the drake's fire caused the wound, not his claws. Might not matter.

"A song? I don't get to hear songs very often. I hear they are an acquired taste. I'm glad to hear you sing... you came all this way to sing?"
