Chapter 8: The Bone Merchant

Wirth
Agreed. Let me just ready myself

Wirth will become invisible for Sun duration, taking the time to cast the spell quietly so as to avoid stress rolls.

Halvard

So what are we doing? Moving Marcello? Going into the cave? Tracking this (gestures at the beastman).

Perhaps it is good to check out this suspected region. Diodorus should be able to guard that beast so that he does not run away if we wish to keep him. I suggest that we take a quick look in the cave and then move on. Aelianus looks at his soldaes.

Iolar will resume human form to enter the cave, make sure he has feathers of flame cast and then follow Wirth or Roberto into the cave keeping an eye out for spirits and regio boundaries

Halvard draws a circle around the sleeping Marcello and casts a spell

CrTe10 (base 3 +1 eye, +2 sun, +0 circle) Create stone platform under Marcello
Cr 6 + Te7 = Sta 2 -1 aura
1d10+14=22

Then he casts Stone Palanquin on the stone and climb on to move Marcello across the stream and out of the regio.
1d10+14=21

As you pass into the aura all feel a sudden shiver. Not a physical cold but the feeling like someone just walked on your grave. The inside of the cave is littered with human and animal bones. The stench is horrific. It is hard to think of anything because of the overwhelming stench and a feeling of malevolence.

Iolar's eyes is drawn to the back of the cave and what appears to be an alter of some sort. The shadows seem to be deeper there. There seem to be shadows for shapes that are not there but it is hard to focus because of the flickering light of your light source ( I'm guessing Iolar's cloak).

Iolar says
"Let there be Light!
and casts a spell
CrIg
(Ig 10+3 puissant, Creo 18(9 doubled by diedne magic) stamina 1 ) 32 - aura + dice roll
invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2461490/
39 - aura
halved
R Touch , Duration Sun base lvl 4 create light as bright as a cloudy day lvl 15

Iolar's spell goes off and she feels a rush of power from the aura. No fatigue is lost.

The increased light bring out the human and animal bones that litter the cave. Even with the new light source everyone feels that there are shadows on the wall that should not be there...but only for an instant.

I am no expert on the infernal forces but this seems like a place where we should not be for long. Aelianus mutters a prayer to Mercury. If there is nothing more. Aelianus looks for some passage further into the cavern and cast Lamp without flame to get a better view of things. I say that we walk away and perhaps try to collapse this cavern. Any other ideas my soldaes?

Lamp without flame Lv 10, casting total 25 + 3 dice roll = 28 http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2464423/

Wirth says nothing, in order to keep his secrecy, but he stays alert for any threats, magic at his fingertips.

Sir Richard:

Your large friend might be right about these creatures. What do you make of that (pointing to the alter).

Iolar moves to examine the alter
While this place seems unpleasent I am not certain that it is infernal , the aura does not seem inimical to magic. Perhaps this is a magical place inhabited by savages

[color=red]"Seems" unpleasent? Canabalistic savages, an altar, and you say it just "seems" unpleasent? Chica, you need to get your head straight. Sir Richard has a point. Though he may have been driven berserk by his outrage, Marcello may indeed be right and all of these creatures will need to be wiped out. The matter deserves further investigation, and I wish to exhause all other options before resorting to an extreme resolution. However, if this is indeed what needs be done, then so shall it be.

Aelianus: There is little time to determine what this cavern contains. We are on a mission given to us by the gods. It is a delay to stay here debating if a certain back of mundane’s worshiped infernal forces or just whatever this region takes of similar to Hecate. Send of one of the guards to report this to some nearby priest and we just make sure that the mundanes stay here. A magical pit should keep them in the right place for a while or a circle enchantment. When we return back we can take care of this business if no-one else has taken care of it.

Sir Richard:

Lets lets make the hole and get out of this cursed place.

((Sorry. I was waiting to see if there was any other discussion))

I was waiting for a response to this

Since wirth is invisible and all, he says and does nothing so as not to betray his position, ready to strike at any threat that might apprear, but this is getting boring. Luckily, he's had time to practise patience when an apprentice

I am waiting for Iolar's results from investigating the altar. In the meantime, my sword is drawn, my shield stands ready, and my crucifix is worn close over my heart.

Sorry for the delay. work and then vacation have taken my time.

The alter is a low stone table with various fetishes on it. It is discolored by what you assume is blood. So much that the natural color of the stone can not be told. As you get closer you see the ground is covered in maggots. There are several human bones on the alter that are decorated with other (finger) bones so as to make a kind of a rattle. A stone bowl that is filled with blood and maggots also sit upon the stone.

I should have noted that Aelianus feels a rush of power when he casts this spell.
