Your forge companion has experience of making similar items at Shadows of the past as they have several people who travel as birds and wish to take passangers dwelling at that covenant
The party sets out on the ship with the morning tide and makes decent progress for the morning. Late morning the ship enters a calm area. Johan says this happens sometimes and you wait….and wait…and wait. After some discussion, Halvard does a spontaneous wind to move the ship. The wind is brisker than Halvard intended but that can happen with his magic.
The ship begins moving again but after a while Johan says something about strong currents. Eventually, after several hours, Halvard’s concentration fails and the wind stops, the ship lurches and it can be seen that the ship is now moving south, pushed by the current or something else.
Johan is an expert sailor, thogh his sheet hasn't been updated for 5 years of game time LOL
Roberto asks [color=red]Can't you zig-zag or something?
He of course is referring to Tacking, which is done with cross winds, not currents.
Diodorus uses all four paws to hold onto the deck thinking if it where really a good choice to go with on this journey.
Aelianus looks at Roberto. Do you have any skill at Aquam? I could conjure up some winds to aid us on our way. See if you can make anything about the current.
Aelianus begins to cast a spell to create winds for the ship. Cr 12 + Au 2 +1 stamina + 0 from dice (no botch) = 15/2 = 7 or 8, that should make Aelianus able to crate a breeze Base 1 + 3 sight range +1 for concentration; total 5
He asks the Ignem guy if he knows any Aquam
[color=red]I seem to recall we had a similar situation when we first acquired this ship. But I have improved in Rego since then. Let me see what I can do...
I will attempt to spont a Rego Herbam spell to guide the ship properly. Not near my books so I don't know the level. But it will probaly be outside my range. Loud Voice, Exaggerated Gestures, Cerimonial casting, and whatever else I can put into it. I will look up things later. But Jebrick, go ahead and roll a die. I am pretty sure I need a 1 followed by 10 or something. Will calculate later.
Iolar first checks with the local winds if this is natural (She has Nature Lore (Weather)) then if she does not identfy a specific problem she provides a better auram spell
(9 +(6*2) +4 dice roll) total 25 for a level 12 spell spending a fatigue
then Aquam (not spending a fatigue)
(6 + dice roll 6 ) total 12 for a level 6 spell
By saying that he recalls a similar situation, Roberto is referring to the fact that the winds and currents were fighting us that time as well. He is thinking it may be something related to our current quest, or it may have nothing to do with it at all. Is this the same spot of water where it happened before?
As for the spell, Roberto had settled for grabbing the steering oar and using the strength of Rego to move it. His original plan was to grab the keel of the ship and call it Target-Part. You nixed that
What I am trying to do is grab the whole ship using Rego Herbam, and move it by force of magic in the direction I want to go.
ReHe20 spont
Base 3, +3 Size, +1 Touch, +1 Concentration
CT: SD plus Sta +1, Rego 6, Herbam 3, Loud Voice +1, Exaggerated Gestures +1, Artes Liberales 1, Philosophiae 1 (ceremonial casting), Aura?
So that gives me a SD +15 (+aura) goin in. I can also sped confidence, but I believe that is added before division.
So, not counting Aura (lets presume there is none), I still need a die-roll of at least 25 (or only 19 if I spend confidence).
That requires a "1" followed by a "0". One percent chance of success, one percent chance for a botch.
Roberto is Reckless and Overconfident. He figures it is worth a try. You are the SG. Roll polyhedrals at home . Real dice, none of this electronic nonsense (my powers of luck are ineffective in an electronic medium, but they are unaffected by distance).
Aelianus concentrates hard on his spell. Iolar… Can’t you fly up in the air a touch the air, that way you could produce a stronger wind. Aelianus returns to the concentration on his rather futile breeze.
OOC Sorry was short of time when I posted this
Auram
R T D Sun
Base 3 for a strong wind
Which will push the ship along rather firmly
Re Aq
Iolar thinks that magic is being used to create a barrier for the ship so she is trying to open the way for the ship to move forward
D Conc, Range Touch , Base 3
"Aelinius see if magic is being used to hold us in place"
Also I keep forgeting I have second sight, can I see anything unnusual around the boat
Aelianus stops the casting of his win now that Iolar has taken care of the wind creation. Looks at the ship’s deck. Well let’s start with the obvious. He starts a ceremonial casting. He cast a spell to determine if any magic is affecting the ship of the third magnitude or stronger.
InVi Base 4 +1 touch +1 magnitude to determine if the magic is hermetic or what it’s source is= 5; In 7 + Vi 6 + Artes liberates 2 + Philosophiae 3 + Gestures and voice 2 + Stamina 1 – fatigue 1 = 20 + dice 0 (no botch); Total 20/2 = 10
OOC...Sorry. work caught up with me this week and I had to read up on some of this stuff to answer all the actions.
First Roberto...( his powers of luck work in the electronic world as well). This can only add to his recklessness and overconfidence. I think Roberto needs to spend 2 confidence points for this. He needs to get a 40 casting roll to work the ReHe 20. He is at 35 with his roll. I think he has 2. 1d10=1 1d10=10
Halvard Sees something with his second sight. 1d10+1=10
Aelianus spell detects no Hermatic Magic of third magnitude or stronger.
Since Roberto was successful I will assume that Iodar does not cast her spells for wind and water. Please correct me if needed.
========================================
Roberto lifts the ship from the waters and begins moving it west. Johan gives him an aiming point and he corrects the course.
Halvard points to a large cloud in the sky. There is something looking at us from that cloud.
Wow! So yeah, I will spend two confidence on that (I think that this feat should earn some back at the end of the session).
Cool! Did not expect that. I am going to reinvent this as a formula spell or an enchanted item
Roberto is stone faced and silent, concentratin on his spell and manuvering the ship as Johan directs.
Iolar will not bother with the wind and water spells as they seem to be OTB , instead she will fly towards the clould havlards pointe dout scanning it more carefully at close range (and taking advantage of the much better perception of her Eagle form).
For a moment she sees a giant human figure that seems to be wrapped in cloud and then it disappears. After it leaves the calm that the ship was in is lifted.
After the ship travels for about 1/2 and hour the sea begins to get rough. But that is ok because you are in a flying boat. Butt he waves get higher and higher until they begin to bump the boat. Roberto can not make it fly any higher than 3m and the waves are still striking the boat. Johan says he has never seen waves like this in the Channel. Bigger waves can be seen forming.
OOC: Fairly soon, Roberto will have to make a concentration roll as the ship is going to be jostled.
