Chapter 9: The hunt for Priscus Ex Merinita

I always assumed that there where a roll that add to the penetration score of items but I can be wrong. Remember that the gas inside the room also blocks sight. Teleportation might work as a mean of rescue as you can remember where to travel but runing can be quite dangerous. Mariellas magic does however seem to cancel the magic and make the smoke go away. There is one open chest and one that is still locked. Remeber any wounds taken before Mariella can dispell the magic.

OOC: you never rolled the damage for those of us wounded. You have a d10+4 heading towards me of which I had soak of 10 so 73% of no damage.

I roll damage for everyone even if they resist the spell:
Mariella: invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3292746/ Dice 4 + 4 = 8
Ardath: invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3292747/ Dice 2 + 4 = 6
Tyrion: invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3292748/ Dice 3 + 4 = 7
Fumidus: invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3292749/ Dice 5 + 4 = 9
The gas is gone as you manage to dispel it. Now what do you do?

Tatiana shakes her head and steps out of the room a moment to set down a rock which she will have the other half in her pocket. She will be able to cast to get herself out of the room next time by using arcane connection. "Since the chest is open, lets see what is inside it and then use rego magic to open any further chests. We really don't want to have another mist go off."

Fumidus stares at the empty air for a few seconds, then numbly mumbles to himself: "Gone. Forever gone. Such a beauty." then realizing that his behaviour may be seen as odd, he shakes his head and looks at the others.
"I haven't seen anything yet that can point us into a clear direction, but it seems that Priscus seems to have a specialty that closely resembles my own magical interests."

With these words, Fumidus starts searching the lab for notes on Priscus' studies (half hoping that he can use some of it himself, half hoping to find a trace leading to one of the few smoke magi of the order).

ooc: We need to find something here - and if we don't has anyone got a plan B how to find Priscus?

"If we do not find the clue here, we will look elsewhere but something here is likely to be a connection. look for hairs, drops of blood and his notes. Check the chest we opened and then we will prepare to open the other chest though it is likely trapped as well." Tatiana says softly. She is not going to be deterred easily.

"I hope that the gas cloud did not destroy all the potential arcane connections, Do not open any more objects until we have finished our search"
Mariella considers a InCo spell to search the room for corpus objects but realises such a spell is beyond her ability as a spontaneous effect, it gets added to the list of spells she needs to learn.
She takes a couple of minutes to rest while recovering from the exertion of casting spontaneous spells and spends them looking around the room. She looks for personal items (Hairbrushes, toe nail clippers etc) as that is one of the best sources for arcane connections unless Priscus was careful enougth to clear his room with perdo corpus effects. Of course he probably was, after all she is

"and before we open an object, an intellego vim can perhaps detect a magical trap and if not, I can use rego magic to open it while we are out of the room so that it doesn't hurt us." Tatiana says. There might be hidden compartments as well but she knows she would make sure nothing is left if she was about to go rogue to have a march declared. Then again, anyone that thinks they can escape the whole order and a march has to be crazy and thus might not be so thorough in their egotism.

"That was....extremely ill-conceived on my part," Tyrion says between coughing, gagging breaths of the blessedly fresh air. "Sodales, you have my profound apologies."

OOC: IIRC, that is Damage 7 - Soak 1 = 6, which is a medium wound for a Size -2 character.

Assuming no one else does before he recovers enough to stand, Tyrion now opens the chest to survey the rewards of his impulsiveness.

Fumidus offers: "If anyone is hurt, may I offer the classic recovery spell Purification of the festering wounds to help you? It's tethered so you can let go of it if you no longer need it"
He does not look at anyone in particular, because he doesn't want to fuss over a sodales.

ooc: spell is formulaic and mastered, so it should be easy.

Tyrion's immediate reaction to Fumidus's offer is an obvious internal conflict -- he's been quite injured, but his pride has been injured more deeply. It'd be an Easy Folk Ken check to see that he feels like he should suffer the injury as punishment for his foolishness, and is also starting to despair of proving himself to his sodales.

(I don't know that any of the other characters are doing anything to promote this need of his to prove himself to them, but it's an interesting RP aspect that I rarely indulge in, so I think I'm going to push it for what it is worth. Between his Earnest personality and the way his master treated him, I can see him as a mage desperate for validation.)

Tyrion will therefore wait until everyone else has a chance to take Fumidus up on his offer before meekly gesturing for help.
